Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home
Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home is locally owned and operated by the Murphy family. We are deep rooted in our community. Therefore, we feel an obligation to clarify the facts and misconceptions about funeral services and costs. We believe funeral services and costs should be transparent. We have developed an interactive and educational website to assist you in making informed decisions for your needs.

We will not hide behind cost ranges and vague descriptions. All of our service information and pricing is available through our website. Therefore, you can call us when you are ready to discuss your needs and we can answer any questions you may have. As unfortunate as the death of a loved one is, the families we serve can appreciate working directly with the owners in every aspect of the funeral process.
Services
Vancil Memorial Funeral Chapel was founded in 1916 by W.T. Vancil in Auburn, Illinois. Known as W.T. Vancil Funeral Chapel at the time, the business was a storefront operation on the east side of the square. The Auburn funeral chapel was closed in 1927. Upon the closing of the Auburn chapel in 1927, W.T. Vancil moved his operation to Springfield.
Our funeral home is designed with your comfort in mind. It is not designed to look or feel like a museum. Our kid friendly Family Comfort Room is available for all who visit. We offer complimentary coffee, tea and water. We also have a television and DVD player, puzzles, coloring books and crayons available for our young visitors.
The staff members of Vancil - Murphy Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff. Brian is a licensed funeral director/embalmer and the President of Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home and Premier Cremation Services.
In recent years, our family has realized that more families in Springfield and surrounding areas are selecting cremation as a final means of disposition. We want to make certain that the best possible care is taken in the cremation process and we insure this by having our own crematory on site. Our newly constructed building located at 458 West Vine Street in Springfield houses a new, state-of-the-art crematory.
The goods and services shown below are those we can provide to our customers. You may choose only the items you desire. However, any arrangements you select will include a charge for our basic services and overhead. If legal or other requirements mean you must buy any items you did not specifically ask for, we will explain the reason in writing on the statement we provide describing the goods and services you selected.

They are caring and provide great service. I gave 3 stars for their lack of handicap access, what they call a wheelchair ramp is a loading ramp. When I emailed them about the issues I was told that ramp was plenty efficient. I couldn't disagree more as a woman in a wheelchair I don't want to go anywhere and feel like I'm on display.

Working with Brian and Adrienne Murphy at Vancil Murphy Funeral Home, made planning and executing my mother's funeral very easy. They belong to Blessed Sacrament Parish, which is my parish. They were kind, helpful and very accommodating. I would fully recommend them to anyone looking for quality services at reasonable prices.

It was the small things that you don't think of in a time like this , but they did , and it meant so much . Thank you , from The family of Hubert F. Daubach Jr.
