The law requires you to call 811 to have public utilities marked before you dig. However, public utilities will only locate the facilities they own - electric, gas, oil, sewer, telephone, water. The vast majority of underground utilities are privately owned, which is why you need to make Blood Hound your second call.
We locate ALL underground utilities and structures and offer a range of highly specialized subsurface utility services to significantly reduce your risk of costly damages and project delays and mitigate safety hazards for your crews and community. All irrigation and sprinkler systems are private underground lines that need to get marked.

The backyard of our home has an underground system of irrigation lines, electrical lines, a gas line, and a gutter system. Unfortunately, not knowing where the lines are and how deep they are creates a problem when doing any kind of landscaping. Therefore, we searched for a underground utility locator company that could identify the location and depth of these systems. In addition, a schematic of the systems was needed. We found a local company in Charlottesville but after an exchange of emails we never heard back from them. A Google search identified Blood Hound LLC that served central Virginia

My boyfriend and I closed on a home Dec 2020 in NC, new build with a septic tank. The builder has been 0 help with providing accurate septic tank/line/leach field info and we wanted to get some backyard projects started. One of the contractors we are working with suggested 811 the free utilies company but since we needed septic areas located, it was considered a private utility and we'd have to pay. I checked around for different companies and Blood Hound ended up with the lesser rate so we booked them. Dustin with the NC division was nothing short of amazing, great customer service, stayed in
