Had high hopes, but pizza tasted as if it had been left out all day....expect it was heated up and then served.

To be fair, I have had their sandwiches before and they were fantastic. Specialty foods are certainly worth a look too. Maybe a bad night for pizza?

Montes is a great neighborhood spot with delicious pizzas (truly, I haven't tried one I don't like) and really interesting and different combos. Love their seasonal veggie pizzas and we also always get the kale Caesar which is just a really really good salad. As other reviewers mention the little market itself is lovely and ambiance is great.

It only took me one visit to fall in love.

The pizza and sandwich - definitely hand crafted with the care and attention you would expect in a local shop with local talent.
The flavors, and the quality of the ingredients - simply amazing - I haven't had this type of quality with this type of pizza in this area. I had not had pinsa (sp?) crust until I visited Monte's. They have pre made sandwiches available in the cooler - they taste just as fresh as if you ordered it from the counter - only difference would be that it's cooler because it's refrigerated.

Very good pizza - nice crisp perfectly charred crust even after driving 30m home. Flavor combinations excellent.

I haven't been to Monte's in awhile and was craving the Sopressata Pizza. They did not disappoint! Great service from Emma!!
The crust perfectly crisp. A true flavor bomb with red sauce, mozzarella, Sopressata, pepperoncini, and hot honey. Savory and a touch of sweet heat makes this an unforgettable pizza. So glad to give another thumbs up to Monte's!! Highly recommend.

Tried this place for the first time while visiting my son. We ordered the Sopressetta and a 3 mushroom pizza and went to pick up. Order ready on time; pizza delicious. The shop has a variety of Italian imported products and I love that you can grab some Georgeous Gelato here in case you cannot get your gelato fix in person downtown Portland! Great place.

Don't listen to the haters this italian speciality grocery is fabulous and deserves your attention especially before a day at the park. Excellent Italians, the bread is perfection; possibly even the best I've had outside of Hanover Street in Boston Thanks for the great service and fresh authentic food!

Some of the best gluten free pizza we've ever had! Staying in Portland to visit friends, tried Roman salad, GF mushroom pie and GF sausage and ricotta pie. All fantastic and will definitely go again.

Fantastic! Our daughter brought us here as we were only in town visiting her. It's a very welcoming and clean environment. Lots of different food/beverage options to bring home with you. I'm not a fan of pizza and planned on buying a sandwich, but saw their pizza and had to try it, which was great! The crust was crunchy on the entire pizza including the center! They have an outdoor eating area. They bring your food out to you, but you do take care of your own trash, obtaining plates, cutlery, etc. Keep in mind that they do not have a liquor license. Montes owner now says I'm the "worst of the community." I have an HONEST REVIEW of this mans food and he has insulted my character. Who is bullying who here? Montes owner not only is too sensitive to handle criticism, WHICH IS A PART OF BEING ON YELP, he has the gall to play victim and make me a villain and insult me all under the guise that he is a "kind person." And that I am essentially a "troll" and the "worst." I am furious. I worked in food service for years and I cannot fathom how this man thinks this response is okay or that I was out of line

We were visiting Portland and wanted a local pizza place to get take out. Montes looks to be a newer local pizza shop. We enjoyed the pizzas we picked out , the pepperoni and pork.

We recently discovered Monte's after reading about it in "Edible Maine" magazine. What a nice place! Terrific little grocery with some products we had never seen before. They have whole and slices of pizza (which the owner calls pinsa because it more resembles flatbread. We got 2 slices that were absolutely delicious! Everything you want in a homemade pizza/pinsa. We will definitely go back and try more pinsa or a sandwich.

UNBELIEVABLE pie! My wife and I can't get enough of the carbonara and I love the pepperoni and sausage & ricotta too. Their pizza has a texture and taste that is absolutely "crushable". It's also just as good the next morning cold out of the fridge. And their red sauce... mmmmmm perfect. These guys also slice their pizza square so you get these slices of greatness with toppings edge to edge on the interior of the pie. I wish I had untapped pictures of their pies but we always seem to dig in before we can get a shot.

Moved to Scarborough and dont get up this way much. Someone told me about Monte's and decided we'd drive over to check it out as I'm not thrilled with Maine pizza in general... But HELLOOOOO this store is AMAZING, the pizza and subs we had were best we've had. They have a fabulous selection of all sorts of imported and local specialty foods, beers, wine, cold case takeout and small fresh bakery case. The best part was how friendly and helpful the people at the counter were. I had questions and they took time to answer even though they were busy with pre-patriot game orders

I've been on the hunt for a good, solid cannoli in Maine for several years. I hated that I felt like I needed to go down to the North End in Boston in order to get something authentic.

I'm not on the hunt anymore. Monte's does it right. The shell was fresh and crunchy, with a hint of citrus. They're filled to order and have the right amount of ricotta/mascarpone in the filling. I'll be going back again very soon!

Both my fiancé and I have been following Monte's on Instagram for quite some time, often tagging each other in pictures of the food we were dying to try (mainly their pepperoni pizza) and then finally one day they posted a picture of their chicken club and we decided we were heading their ASAP. Unfortunately, it was rainy the day we stopped in because they have the cutest patio set up but I was totally fine with eating in our car.

Finally! Some of the great food offerings that in-city Portland has had for years, are popping up in Deering. A star is the new Monte's. It is wonderful. I go for the flat crust pizza creations that they typically have laid out on the slab, behind which you can see the professionals hard at work making the excellent fare. This forces you to want to buy all of them. By the length or the whole pie. The pizza is delicious. Every time.

I have been driving by Monte's every week since they opened on route to and from the dog park. Finally had a chance to swing by and check it out.

It is a nice space and the staff was very friendly. Definitely, and great speciality store. I did a little dinner shopping to the night. Did not have a chance to really explore and check out the menu for sandwiches and pizza. Though will need to give it it a try and do curbside. The pizzas

Damn, I love me this pizza. It is what pizza should be!

Now, the reasons I stopped in was three fold; friends said it was good, the pictures of the deliciously almost burned and curled pepperonis, and because I was told they are taking the COVID very seriously. And man, I was not disappointed, and in fact... IM HOOKED!

The pizza was sooo yummy. The sauce was robust and flavorful, and lots of it! (If you're not a sauce lover, try something other than cheese or pepperoni), and the cheese was very light. And it's fresh slices of mozzerella, not shredded like you get almost everywhere

I've driven by many times since it's been open, but had never been in. I've followed them on Facebook, though. I saw an post that they were giving free coffee to those wearing an 'I Voted" sticker, so I used that opportunity to visit! They use local CBD coffee and it appears it's only $1...great! And the best price around for quality java!!
