Mental Health Greensboro
Mental Health Greensboro offers free mental health support services in our community to ensure that nobody has to struggle with mental illness alone. You can help us sustain this model. Mental Health Greensboro provides leadership in identifying and addressing mental health needs in Greensboro and serves as an advocate for those experiencing mental illness.

MHG seeks to promote recovery and raise awareness of mental health issues through education, direct services, and collaboration with mental health professionals. We provide direct services to individuals in recovery from mental illness, including support groups, recovery skills classes, and one on one peer support.
Services
Mental Health Greensboro (formerly the Mental Health Association in Greensboro) is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and has been a partner and neighbor in Greensboro and Guilford County for over 80 years. MHG provides services and programs that promote mental health and support recovery from mental illnesses.
The Wellness Academy is a free mental health recovery skills program that educates peers about maintaining wellness, coping with stress, and managing symptoms. Our core courses are evidence-based and built from SAMHSA guidelines designed to teach skills and strategies to help individuals overcome the challenges presented by their diagnoses, and work towards what they consider important in their lives.
For individuals with a mental health diagnosis, Mental Health Greensboro provides one-on-one peer support with NC Certified Peer Support Specialists. There is no charge to participate in this program. Peers are matched with a Certified Peer Support Specialist with a similar life experience. Participants of Peer Support Services are strongly encouraged to attend Wellness Academy courses in addition to peer support sessions.
Compeer Connections is a program designed to support wellness and recovery through activities that give participants a chance to relax, engage and socialize. Social connections are a major factor in peoples' overall wellness, and social support has been proven to be critical in the process of mental health recovery.
The Recovery Culture Club is a communal space for those experiencing mental health or life struggles to drop-in and have a place to build a support system, meet one-to-one with a peer specialist, find mental health resources, expand their chosen family, explore diverse wellness activities, learn life skills, build hobbies and more.

I have been a peer at MHG for a little over a year now and they have helped change my life through recovery in a way that I cannot even explain. They have helped reinstall hope in my life and helped me to find a future and a purpose. They have given me multiple opportunities to immerse myself in a helping role by allowing me to volunteer in various capacities at MHG, which I am extremely grateful for. I cannot say enough good things and how much I value the staff and peers at MHG. They have changed my life.

Peer support offers hope. Wellness academy helped me while I was still waiting for my insurance to approve a therapist.

This office does not have a fragrance-free policy and staff responded inappropriately to my informing her of my and another's sensitivity to perfumes. She was not only unwilling to discuss the issue at even a later time with staff, she seemed to not care less about my concerns. She even threatened to call security after I asked who her supervisor was. I was not yelling, I was not threatening, I was informing, and she took it personally.
