All of our desserts are made-from-scratch. We do not use shortenings, preservatives, oils, or any of the "fake" stuff.
We use real butter, flour, sugar, and eggs, and we love to create and design with this in mind. We shop locally, seasonally, and organically when we can, and love to support other small metro Detroit businesses. My commute to this bakery is almost an hour but it's well worth it. My reception was cancelled due to COVID. In error, we received two large refunds. We returned the second. We decided, 16 months later to host a small reception at our house. The bakery wanted to pay for our cake to show their gratitude. I said absolutely not. They ended up giving us over half off as a good will gesture. Brook was an absolute doll to do business with and as recall so are all of the other ladies. I ordered the hand painted macarons as a gift for mother's day and the expectations vs. reality were a little different to say the least. I included 2 images of the order I received and a screenshot of the advertised macarons that were on their website.
They need to update their website to accurately reflect what their products really look like. I didn't want to knock off too many stars because I could tell the team had been working really hard and were swamped with orders, but it is worth noting that the macarons with the paintings on them were also considerably harder than the other macarons

We purchased a custom birthday cake a few years back at the R0 location and it was delicious, so we decided to order our wedding cake. I emailed them all the details and never heard back. I then called them days later and discussed the details again and the young woman said they would email me the details / invoice. Never heard back .....nada....zip.....super disappointed.

Ordered 3 dozen macarons for my nieces party. They charged me extra for design. Total cost $117! Looked ok but the taste was not good. Threw at least a dozen away. They made it wrong. Too much air in the shell part. It's not supposed to be like that. For $117, should taste awesome.
I've been to the Royal Oak location many times. I never had a problem there. So unfortunate Birmingham location isn't good.

Love and Buttercream is conveniently located near an intersection with a few parking spots at its side and more towards the back. My friend recommended them highly because of their buttercream so when her birthday rolled around, I knew her cake had to come from here. Earlier in the day, I called ahead to have them set one aside. I had wanted to order ahead but the website required 3 days' notice and I was meeting my friend in 2 - poor planning on my part. I'm assuming this is the same as the one on Maple across from Kroger. So my 21st birthday was Tuesday and my mum ordered a cake from the Birmingham location. When she got the cake from them they messed up the colours, my favourite colour is red, they put "autumn colours" brown and orange. The cake was hard as a rock, tasteless, plain and overall rubbish. When we went back to complain, they only offered 10 dollars off. Horrible customer service, my mum clearly specified how she wanted the cake prepared. Avoid this establishment at all costs, stick to Sams club's cakes.

Unfortunately the woman that waited on me wasn't the friendliest, she was almost standoffish. I ordered my Macarons and cupcake and left feeling as if she was annoyed to have had to help me. I get the feeling a few other patrons left feeling the same way.
My Macarons were fine, nothing to write home about. The feet were underdeveloped and the filling to cookie ratio was a bit off

I chose Love & Buttercream to make the cake for my November wedding and I couldn't have been happier! At my wedding everyone raved about how gorgeous my cake was and how delicious it was! (See picture).
I had a specific idea of what I wanted for my cake decoration and after looking at so many different bakeries I felt that L&B would be able to give me that "Pinterest" look. I had already found L&B and had made up mind when I read some of the negative reviews, I was a bit surprised to ready anything negative because everything from my cake tastings to my decor meeting

Both locations of this little gem are great. They have a nice selection of sweet treats to hit the spot for your craving or special event. I am a big fan of their macaroons which are gluten free and come in some unique flavors, which change daily. They have a flourless chocolate torte which is very good and has a super choloately flavor. I have had their cookie sandwiches and I find them to be too sweet. Their buttercream is extremely sweet which some people enjoy but I am just not a fan, so I'll opt for treats without that frosting.

The staff was super awesome - very helpful on the phone and in person. I ordered an 8" birthday cake with chocolate buttercream and yellow cake for $32. I thought that was a steal as Whole Foods is about the same cost, yet Love and Buttercream bakery offers free inscriptions on the cake + 3 big cake layers (Whole Foods is only two)!
