Your child wants to do everything; from dressing herself in the morning, to putting on his own shoes, to riding bikes without training wheels; but what about brushing and flossing their teeth? At The Colony Pediatric and Adolescent Dentistry, we're here to help your child develop good oral hygiene habits early on.

Dr. Yu specializes in pediatric dentistry, working with infants, toddlers, children, and teens to create happy, healthy smiles that last into adulthood! The Colony Pediatric and Adolescent Dentistry is a different kind of pediatric dental practice! Our practice offers a fun, friendly, welcoming atmosphere where patients and their parents will feel at-ease.
Services
Your child's first visit to the doctor typically includes an x-ray that allows the doctor to view the structure of the jaw, the position of any teeth that have not yet erupted, malformed roots, and tooth decay. The initial visit also involves getting your child's medical history. When you share your child's medical history with the doctor, be sure to provide complete, up-to-date information on his health.
As a pediatric dentist and a mother, I know that good oral hygiene skills start early! Since 2000 I've been helping parents and their little ones start a lifetime of happy, healthy smiles. My philosophy as a pediatric dentist is to provide dental care to children in the same way I would my own children; with compassion and patience, and held to the highest standards possible.
A child's first visit to the dentist should be enjoyable and positive. The more you and your child know about the first visit, the better you will feel. Children are not born with a fear of the dentist, but they can fear the unknown. Our office makes a practice of using pleasant, non-frightening, simple words to describe your child's first dental visit and treatment.
We specialize in pediatric dentistry, which means our focus is on treating infants, children, and adolescents. Below are common questions and our answers about the best way to care for children's teeth. We recommend that you make an appointment to see the dentist as soon as your child gets his first tooth.
Even before your baby's first tooth appears (or, in dental jargon, "erupts"), her gums can benefit from your careful attention. After breast- or bottle-feeding, wrap one finger with a clean, damp washcloth or piece of gauze and gently rub it across your baby's gum tissue. This practice both clears your little one's mouth of any fragments of food and begins the process of building a good habit of daily oral care.

I can’t even begin to say enough wonderful things about Dr. Yu and her kind staff. I’m a very particular mother of 3 young daughters and I am 100 percent comfortable in their competency and capabilities. We’ve been seeing her for 7 years and I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else. They are all very compassionate and courteous...remembering my daughters perfectly everytime we come in. That’s rare in these times where you usually feel like just a number. She’s in my opinion, the best pediatric dentist in DFW.

All four of my young children go to Dr. Yu. She has excellent bedside manner, a very nice facility and good staff. She has done an excellent job on a variety of dental needs for my children, including emergency dental needs for our one year old after hours and a tooth extraction after a sports game accident for an older child. She has been excellent, always comforted our children and gave them excellent dental care at the same time and I 100% recommend her. A friend's three children now go there as well after needing a dentist one time for their son.

We took our kids (6yo boy, 4yo girl) here for a cleaning.
They are very competent and they were very comforting to the kids.
Dr. Yu and staff are friendly, asked if we had any questions, and were able to answer our questions confidently.
The office is clean and comfortable to kids, without seeming like a 'playhouse'... it was 'just right'.
Above all, I believe Dr. Yu and staff are there for your kids' benefit, and don't seem to believe in excessive/unnecessary procedures. They offered a sealant for the kids teeth. We declined, and they comforted us saying not to worry, since it was our choice
