Yosemite Bicycle & Sport
I have been coming to Bass Lake and the Sierra Nevada Foothills and mountains for most of my life, enjoying the hiking, cycling, swimming, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding and other activities available here. I finally decided it was time to make my home here. I have been in the bicycle business since 1972, when my brother Mike and I opened Garner's Pro Bike Shop in Redwood City, Ca. (San Francisco Bay Area).

In 1973, I started building bicycle frames and in 1978, I started building all terrain bikes (later to be called mountain bikes). We started the Sequoia Cycling Club a year later and promoted many bike races.
Services
Professional service provided for any brand of bicycle, scooter, and Specialized Turbo Levo electric assist bikes. Our prices are very reasonable and we offer mobile bike service at your home as well. We normally work on a first come first served basis and most jobs can be done within a day or two after you drop it off.
Being next to the Bass Lake recreation area and Yosemite National Park, we have a great selection of road and mountain bikes as well as single or double kayaks for rent. We have high end road and full suspension mountain bikes with disc brakes that you can demo on our great trails before purchasing one.

Great bike shop. Rented a cross bike for the week in Yosemite. Rick, the owner, was very helpful and friendly explaining the best places to ride in the area. Highly recommend.

I rented out a gravel bike from Rick so I can do a couple of routes around Yosemite. He assembled a new bike he had that day I called and reserved for a rental. He also allowed me to pick it up at a time I could make. This man is a hard worker who has dedication to the cycling sport. I recommend anyone who needs a bike stop by Yosemite Bicycle & Sport.

I was on my way to Yosemite for a ride when my rear wheel went flat right before my wide. I noticed that the tube was beyond repair. I was given ricks information, and showed up to his house at 10am (1 hour before his posted opening time). He operates out of his detached garage. Rick and his wife are both very accommodating and he had a tube for my deep dish rear wheel. I was impressed at his set up, as he had everything and anything you need. Rick saved the day as the other local bike shop didn't have a tube for my wheel. 100% would recommend Rick to anyone in the area.

Kids bicycles are not very good unfortunately. When my seven-year-old son tried to get off his bike his foot got stuck on the rear metal loop. The banana seat was not very comfortable and the brakes are not very good. The kid bike was very hard to pedal and also very difficult to steer.

If you are anywhere near Yosemite and need to purchase, rent, or fix a bike- Rick is your guy. With over 45 years of experience, he is the oldest specialized dealer in the world and has an in depth knowledge with bikes. Although I live 3 hours away, I will only be taking my bikes to him.

I had just arrived to Oakhurst looking forward to a splendid weekend biking in Yosemite with my sweetheart. As I was checking into a bed and breakfast, I began to take my Specialized Roubaix off the bike rack. To my dismay, I notices the front wheel was loose, and it appeared the end cap was had fallen off on our travels.

In a panic, I quicky googled Yosemite Bike and sport. The business was in a residential area which I found interesting and charming. I didn't have much time left in the day, and thought the business would be closed.

As I was getting out, the owner appeared in the driveway

Rick was amazing. From out of town and I made a stupid mistake in a crash where I popped both tires. He got me on my way quickly and shared some of his rich knowledge. A real pleasure and I look forward to my next interaction.

This place may be off the beaten track but it's awesome. Rick is a total pro at all things bike related. I needed a new brake cable and chain and Rick fixed it while I waited at the shop in no time at all. He is a real professional and his shop has lots of bike related gear and Yosemite apparel. I cannot recommend this place enough.

I was looking for a new bike for my son so I went to this shop. The owner was very knowledgeable and friendly. I ended up buying a bike. When I got it home I discovered he sold me a used bike that he did not disclose and I over paid for it by $100. I am a local and from now on I will chose to go somewhere else for my next bike.

TL;DR it's a good, honest bike shop. You'll do well to stop by.
Can't say enough good about this shop; the ultimate case study of why your local bike store is still a necessity for bikers and not a cute anachronism...
While on a roadtrip I noticed that my handlebars looked out of skew and brought the bike in thinking that somehow the stem had been damaged (botched theft in Fresno?); anyways, the owner recommended I get a new, extra solid, stem, and as we were in a rush to get to Yosemite, he even offered to do the repair on the spot while we ate lunch across the street.
Soon enough he uncovered

Rick the owner is shady, he'll sell used parts as new. Never trust him to work on your newer model bike, he has no clue what he is doing. Sent me out with hydraulic brakes that didn't work. Locals know not to trust him, all he wants is to hit the cash register. Doesn't care about long term relationships within the community and building future good will by doing fair and good work.

The service, expertise, personalization & variety of bicycle & sporting equipment is superb. Repairs are usually done within the day, which I've rarely seen in other well known bicycle shops. The owner is a lifelong professional bicycle expert, rider, mechanic, promoter and avid supporter of his business and lives in the community he serves. He has expertise & knowledge that few others in the business have. He has a large inventory of high quality bicycles to sell as well as lower end bikes. Yosemite Bicycle & Sport rents out bikes and kayaks at competitive prices for those

First of all, the mechanic is gone...so now Rick handles everything.

Now the real problem...so last month, before we left for Visalia for his birthday ride, we took his bike to the shop here in town to get the brakes worked on. The crazy owner is running it himself now cuz his mechanic quit. So he had 3 days to fix it, but it wasn't done when we got back. So we took it home and took it back a few days later...and picked it up a couple days later. Didn't work really right but hubby let it slide...we heard from a guy who works at the vitamin shop in Coarsegold about a bike shop in Fresno

Great beta on the underrated riding in the area. The shop is Specialized specific and I've had some interesting convos about bike maintenance and choices. I find the staff to be very cool; translation, if you know what's up then it goes smoothly but if you are looking for cheap fixes to junky bikes, head to Walmart. These guys live mountain biking!

I went to mow my lawn and had a flat tire and then broke the plastic connection valve on my very nice foot pump. I went to spiffy-looking Yosemite Bicycle where I was told I would have to by a whole new pump. On a whim, I stopped by well-worn Tire & Cycle and within 5 minutes, Lonnie found a brass replacement, cut off the old, put on the new, charged me a fair price and happily sent me on my way. After reading yelp* reviews of both places, I see my experience at both places mirrors many others'. Don't judge a book by its cover!

I had a very different experience from some of the other reviewers. I was visiting the area and wanted to do some mountain biking but didn't know where to go. The owner & manager are very helpful. They spent about a 1/2 hour telling me about local mountain biking trails, gave me some maps, and the owner even took me out for a ride on 007 so I wouldn't be riding alone. While I was in the store they helped other people who were non-bikers with their bike problems (flats, wheel problems, etc) and they were very helpful and gave great & immediate service.

Excellent mountain biking

A man, his wife, and their two boys walked into a local bike shop in a Saturday evening to look at new bicycles for their growing children. Hello, Christmas is coming!

We were not greeted. We found the size we were looking for on our own. Still not acknowledged. Our boys tried them out. Still nothing from anyone in the shop.

Needless to say, we left with nothing, no goodbyes.... Aaaand that's a huge loss on their part because based on the prices that could have been a decent $500 sale to end your evening.

Really too bad because we are moving up from Fresno and we do like to shop at local

These guys are the best!!
This is my first review ever, but they deserve it. On a lark, I brought my bike in to see if they were competitive on price to fix my back brake. Not only were they, they lubed my wheels and adjusted my rear derailleur at no cost. I also wanted my front brake redone and they said no as it was fine, SAVING ME MONEY!!
And to top it off, they gave me directions to great local trails and took me out the next day for a ride.
These guys are great. Ask for Tim!!
Thanks
Brent
