Grant Cedar Mill is owned and operated by Richard & Leslie Smith, Jerrell Smith, and Gerald Kelley. Our company was started over twenty years ago with little more than one contract and a prayer. Since that time it has grown by leaps and bounds, now shipping lumber over the eastern half of the United States and exporting lumber internationally.

We buy cedar logs by weight or measure using the International Cedar Scale. Being a locally owned small business, we are able to provide retail cedar products directly to the public. At the same time, we are able to supply major log home and cedar manufacturing companies by producing over 10,000 board feet of wholesale lumber a day.

Lumber Report

Red cedar is a highly desirable wood to work with due to it's durability, strength and versatility. Uses for cedar are practically endless. Some examples are log home building, fencing, siding, flooring, furniture and cabinets. It has a fine grain, but a soft texture, which makes it great for woodworking.

Mulch, Sawdust, & Chips Report

Red cedar mulch is a great way to protect plants and flowers, while enhancing the look of your lawn or garden. The size, texture, and matting characteristics help to eliminate weeds by blocking sunlight. These same features also help to keep moisture in the soil beneath, essential for gardening. As it decomposes, the mulch adds vital nutrients to the soil.

Went for the first time to get cedar chips to address wet areas in horse lean-to. The staff was extremely friendly and pros. Drove up and to the left to get chips. 5 min or less to load and a great price for substantial chunks….. not flakes or mulch.
Grabbed a price list while there. Ordered posts for fencing at HALF the cost of big-box stores.
So excited to have found this place!!

What an amazing local treasure! High quality cedar lumber and mulch right here in our area! I live only about seven miles from the Grant Cedar Mill, but I’d drive miles past the corporate home to improvement places to get the real deal from this great local business.

Great and FRIENDLY service! We needed cedar for some projects around the house. We have purchased previously from some of the big box places but selection was always a challenge and prices were high. Asking people we know let us here and we were NOT disappointed. All they do is cedar, from X by X to cedar mulch. You pull to the back past the sawmill and drive into the warehouse. Helpful workers will flag you down and inquire and direct you. After discussing what we needed, we were shown several options including a load brought in because the worker knew what was on the pile wouldn't fit our needs

HUGE selection of lumber... More than was listed online. I was able to get everything I needed here. I spent $400, but it would have been closer to $700 if I had used retail chain stores. The staff were friendly and great. The whole process was super easy. The wood is beautiful in exactly the rustic rough way I was looking for. Grade A and grade B were available, and I was able to sort through both with ease to get exactly what I needed. I highly recommend this place, and I'm sure I will be back...

Grant's has cut lumber, large variety of mulch and saw dust available for immediate sale. If you don't see the cedar cut the way you want, just ask and Grant's will do whatever you want. Prices are the best I've seen in Middle Tennssee. Mulch comes bagged or by the scoop. Excellent mill.

Went there to purchase a piece of cedar for a fireplace mantle, staff were very helpful. found a beautiful piece and they cut it to the thickness I required. great price, great quality, great service!

This is your go-to place for beautiful red cedar lumber, mulch, and sawdust if you're within a couple hour drive!
We accidentally stumbled across this fantastic family owned business when we made a wrong turn, and we are so glad we did! We've been looking for cedar lumber to build out some more garden boxes. Our hunt is now over. The huge warehouse of lumber offers plenty of options at very fair prices, with the occasional discount of 25-50% off.
We walked out with 8 1x10x8 boards for about $70! Pretty fantastic considering planter "kits" we've found around Nashville garden
