To help keep delivery costs down, our working members help by delivering to the drop site on their work days, if they can. Established in 1991, Seven Springs is a Community Supported Agriculture farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia. We grow healthy, delicious food using sustainable and biodynamic practices and materials approved for organic certification.
Services
Seven Springs Farm was established in 1990 by Polly Hieser and Ron Juftes. Both are trained horticulturalists with many years of experience. Leaving behind their landscaping and tree surgery business in Pennsylvania, they moved to Floyd County VA because of its beauty, community, and affordable land prices.
Community Supported Agriculture is more than a simple business agreement between farmer and produce buyer; it is a partnership based on mutual respect with a commitment to support each other. The farmer commits to growing the freshest, healthiest food possible typically using organic and biodynamic practices.
I understand that I am investing in farmland conservation, supporting local food production, and sharing in this farm's harvest. I understand that I am securing a market for the farmer, and agree to share in the bounty and loss of the season. I agree that it is my responsibility to pick up my weekly distribution of food at the designated site and time.
Shred the cabbage very finely. The fineness of the shredded cabbage is really what makes this salad; you want it in in threads, almost, and with the threads chopped into bite-size lengths. Toss with the peanuts in a large bowl. Chop the scallions, including the green and white parts. Toss the scallions and chopped cilantro with the cabbage, seasoning very lightly with salt and pepper.
Receive a bag of five to eight different vegetables every week from mid May through November. Choose one of three share sizes, Small (half shopping bag per week), Medium (full bag), and Large (two bags). You may purchase an herb share in conjunction with your vegetable share and receive two bunches of herbs each week for 20 weeks.
