A clean, safe and friendly tattoo shop located in Raleigh, North Carolina. We currently have four talented and versatile artists on staff: Lacie Frain, Brian Harris, Paul Lieberman, and Sam Guin. Phoenix has been established in Raleigh since 2005 and we are happy to be a part of this community. We strive to do beautiful work and to treat our customers with kindness and respect.

In 2012 she took over The Phoenix and has dedicated herself to making it a shop where everyone can feel welcome. Tattooing since the early 2000s, Sam left his hometown of Raleigh in 2004 and headed out West to find inspiration and develop his unique style of tattooing.
Drawing on his art background and genre spanning influences he developed an illustrative approach to tattooing, focusing on creativity, readability and longevity, working alongside some of the top names in tattooing and picking up awards for his designs along the way before ultimately settling back in the Oak City in 2015.

All deposits are at the discretion of the artist, starting at $50 and are applied to the cost of the tattoo at your final scheduled appointment. Deposits are forfeited if you do not show up for your appointment or you are more than 15 minutes late. Deposits may be paid in cash, credit or debit. We require 24 hr notice for cancellations of appointments, and 48 hrs notice required for cancellation of all day appointments.
These organizations are the heart of our community and they make a real difference to those in need. By building free fences our fence program frees dogs living on chains and gives families and pets a safe place to strengthen their bond.

I've gotten 3 tattoos from Brian here at Phoenix Tattoo. Not only is his line work unparalleled and his art simply stunning, but he's so pleasant to talk to and I genuinely enjoy my time there.
The studio is spotless and the pricing is reasonable. Plus artist availability and hours are flexible, which is a huge bonus for me. I can't recommend this place (or Brian) enough!

Outstanding tattoo shop! Clean, professional and staff that definitely make you feel comfortable. Lacie is an AMAZING artist and my husband and I combined have several pieces done by her. (We even travel down from northern VA to get work done by her.) Yes... She's THAT good. I couldn't more highly recommend this to anyone looking for great art work.

Sam did my first tattoo! It was super simple and frankly he is so talented that this must have been a walk in the park! But he made me feel so important, helped me through the process, and ultimately delivered exactly what I wanted!! I feel like giving that kind of service to a small customer shows that this place is the real deal. If (when) I get a bigger piece I will definitely go here!!!

I went today for the Wags for Tags fundraiser. The shop is clean and employees are professional and helpful. The art is beautiful and and they make it easy to customize your piece how you want it. Lacey did this piece and it looks amazing and she finished it quickly while still ensuring quality. She constantly checked to make sure it didn't hurt, and asked regularly if I needed a break and made sure I was ok. I'm so happy with my experience and recommend this shop to anyone looking for a quality tattoo.

Lacie filled in a back piece that I had gotten outlined a year prior by another artist. She was very attentive in hearing what look I wanted and communicated well back to me what she had taken from my instruction. She was courteous, fast, and talented - checking in regularly to make sure I was comfortable and whether I liked how it was progressing. Would definitely work with her again!

I've had a couple of tattoos from Lacie and there really isn't any question in my mind that she is awesome at what she does. Lacie (and all the artists there that I've met) have a passion for their work that is unparalleled. They care about what they do, they realize that it is a big deal for the client, they work with you and your piece is their #1 focus as they work in you. Sometimes it's hard to find a place that treats you like a person instead of a number, Phoenix treats you respectfully and wholeheartedly as a person. I can't recommend Phoenix and Lacie enough

My friend and I were in town for Hopscotch and really wanted to get tattoos. This shop had good reviews so we walked in and Lacie blew my mind! She was so friendly and sweet and insanely talented! We both had ideas of what we wanted, but she took those ideas and patiently turned them into awesome tattoos. Can't say enough great things about this place!

Got a new tattoo today. Rob Rutherford was my artist and he was fantastic. We discussed the design and went over many options, actually completely changing my original design to what we both agreed would work best for the space and get the desired effect.
Shop is clean and professional. Everyone that works there is a true professional, and from seeing the pictures around the place all very talented artists.
While I was getting my ink on my wife decided to get a small cross and Colby was available for a walk in and did a great job as well.

Rob did both me and my sons tattoos. I was pretty disappointed with mine and my sons was ok, because of the type of tattoo it was, the line work didn't matter as much. I would not recommend nor go back to him. His line work is pretty rough. I am assuming he just doesn't have a steady hand. The other artists looked like they were putting out some decent work. I just got unlucky.. :(. Sucks.

Both me and husband,went here to get a tattoo yesterday. I am highly impressed, I knew what I wanted however my husband didn't, usually you give them your ideal and it takes a few days to sketch it up however; Richard went to town with a sketch, and my husband loved it, and then he amazed us even more with the finished product. I knew what I wanted, Ryan did mine and he did an awesome job as well. Definitely will be going back.

The more I look at it, which is many times throughout the day since it's right up front, the more upset I get. The crappy thing is, just like when you go to a hair salon and they jack up your hair you don't want to go back to the same salon to have them fix it because they will probably make it worse, I have to find somewhere else to fix it and pay more money. Huge disappointment, especially because I was so damn excited about getting my baby boys birthday tattooed on me. Maybe they are better at bigger projects but not the small detailed stuff. I got my first tattoo here in April 2009, a larger piece in between my shoulder blades using black ink. I initially dropped in a week prior to when I wanted my tattoo done and brought in a rough sketch and some google images related to size and placement. I've had two tattoos done here (so far) and I love Lacie! I felt comfortable with her and she was very good about explaining what she was doing as she was tattooing me. Lacie took the time to listen to my suggestions when I was explaining to her what I was thinking of as far as my tattoo design. I brought I sample of what I wanted and asked her to tweak things that I was unhappy with and add some of her artistic touches.
She also didn't let me take the lead on the design ether. She made it clear that some of my ideas wouldn't work and explain in a way that I could understand why

I have never been happier than when I got my tattoo done here. From the time I walked in to look at designs, scheduled my appointment, got the tattoo, everything, just amazing. I came in having a vague idea of what I wanted, and they helped me really get the idea down. The day of my appointment I was called in to work and so I called to let them know I wasn't going to make it, but they said to just come in when I could, after work.
