We enjoyed our stay in the Cedar cabin, which was very pleasant, clean, and comfortable with a beautiful view of the lake, and more privacy being at the end. So relaxing!
We like smaller, family-owned resorts, a lot of history here. Staffing is tough for a lot of businesses these days, and cell/wifi can be limited, spotty this far out, so need to give a little grace and flexibility. The owner and staff were quite helpful, available and responsive with cabin needs and suggestions for hiking trails and moose spotting.
The camping sites also have some nice views, and there is a hiking trail that

This is the best looking resort you will find in Ely, MN. The cabins are absolutely beautiful and the grounds are amazing. They are flat where there is room to play and they have a beach to sit by the water which is hard to find in Ely. When it is a rainy day they have a great room for games and a larger place to gather.

We have tried calling multiple times, no answer and mailbox is full. Tried emailing them with no response. I was hoping to stay at one of the cabins this fall but I might have to book elsewhere. Bad first impression. Im really hoping someone will get back to us... eventually?

We have both camped and stayed at the cabins at Whispering Pines. The campsites are right on the lake, we could hear the ducks flying in every morning. You will not want to camp anywhere else after camping here. We have started renting the cabins and always have a great experience. Highly recommended!

We had a week long stay at Cedar Cabin. The views of Big Lake were breathtaking from our screened in porch. Everything about this place is just what I needed during these challenging times of 2020. I was told bugs come with the area, but geez louiz!!! If u love the outdoors and seclusion of the area, I would definitely recommend this awesome place. And you can hear the Whispering Pines in the morning thru the windows. Thank u John, Dan and the crew for your welcoming hospitality and I look forward to visiting again.

Campsite #5 had a beautiful view of the lake. Overall a beautiful location and very remote! Takes about 35-40 minutes to get into Ely. The office did not open during posted hours the entire 3 days we were there. I literally did not see an employee at all anywhere. No info available on when we could get firewood or when staff would be available. Bathrooms were not maintained while we were there. So its good but not great.

What a great place to go to get it of the city. First day of fishing and 5 walleye within 2 hours. Family friendly with the Dancing Bear center. My wife and I stayed in the Tamarack cabin, perfect for two with great privacy. A great place for getting away and relaxing. Right off the Boundary Waters.

The cabins are probably the best thing about this place. Upgraded amenities compared to your average resort including free wifi and wifi calling. Large rooms available to sleep a large family in individual beds besides the master bedroom for the king and queen. I'll probably do the pontoon rental next time instead of the fishing boat. Would be easier with kids. Kids loved the swimming off the front beach. Water is shallow for about 40 yards or so. The lake is beautiful both on and viewing from your room. Would be interested in a 2 week package next time if there was a little bit of a discount for
