Warped metal of the damper, metal smoke chamber, connector pipe or factory-built metalchimney. Fireplaces come in two general types, masonry fireplaces built entirely of bricks and mortar, and factory built fireplaces consisting of a lightweight metal firebox and a metal chimney.
A masonry fireplace has a firebox built of individual generally yellowish firebrick, a brick chimney above the roof, and if you look up past the damper you will see a roughly pyramid shaped affair also built of brick.A prefab fireplace generally has a firebox of cast refractory panels, and usually some metal is visible in the room all around the firebox.

Below is my original review. Doug reached out and made this right, so I've improved my rating! Apparently there was a glitch in his system, so he sent the invoice, but it didn't come through. He quickly responded to a Facebook message, and provided his direct number. I will be giving this business another chance the next time I need a chimney sweep!
I hired them to inspect two fireplaces on a property I'm helping sell. He supposedly went out on 2/17/2020 and I never received word on recommended repairs or an invoice for the inspections. I've called numerous times and the person answering the phone

Highly recommend this place if you need anything fixed for your fireplace. We called and needed a fireplace service done with short notice. There was no other company that could get us in timely except them. Special mention to Doug who was very professional and understand that Realtors can't wait 20+ days for an appointment. Quick response time via email, phone or text. Plus they have a nice email invoice feature which is very user friendly. We have nothing but praises for this company!

I was told by another company that the work could not be done and the whole fireplace needed replaced. I called Doug and he was out to look at the damper the same evening and stayed until 10:30pm doing the work. Not only did he go above and beyond what anyone would do, he fixed the problem and saved the homeowner $5500. I recommend him to anyone.

I was given the fireplace guy phone number for an install, with a 2 week turn around time for an estimate. The day before the install, I got a call that this company is unable to work on condo's. You would think they would have known this at the time of booking an appointment. This put my schedule back now at least 2 weeks.

I've hired The Fireplace Guy twice now to work on 2 separate fireplaces and he was amazing! He knew exactly what was wrong with each one and how to fix it. He was prompt, courteous, and super knowledgable! He taught me things about my fireplaces that I never would have known, and went above and beyond with his customer service. I will proudly recommended Doug to others.

I asked the Fireplace guy to inspect my fireplace set up at my condo, because I was having trouble closing the flue. After his initial inspection he showed me the damper rod had been busted on one side due to excessive wear. He suggested a very nominal method to fixing it and I will be taking him up on, after hearing his knowledge and expertise. High quality work, great and friendly customer service. Recommended!
