Obviously, the loss in accuracy occurs with the method of holding the work piece on the machine spindle. In recent years many types of expanding tools have been developed in an attempt to assist the tool engineer in solving the problem. The diaphragm chuck, the split collet arbor, the stresses arbor or chuck and the tapered arbor are some of these products.
A specialty of Jerry Tools is the manufacture and design of custom fixtures for inspection. New from Jerry Tools is the JT-7735 universal air bearing rotary inspection fixture that is table mounted with air hookup included. TIR standard tolerance. Uniform air pressure allows you to test and spin applications like jet engine fans and engine cores up to 3 feet off the table within desired balance.
The seal should look 1/2 too large. Push down on the seal until the I.D. of the seal is cocked in the groove. Then, with a flat tip wooden stick with a non-sharp edge, work the O.D. of the seal into the groove by pushing down with your thumb. Work the seal in until the seal is flush at the top of the groove area.
