Mercy provides quality, whole-person healthcare in a Christ-centered environment to our underserved neighbors. In his time on Earth, Jesus Christ validated the dignity of human beings by taking on human form and concerning himself with feeding, clothing, and healing the people around him, especially those without economic or social resources.

In our time, God has given us the talents and resources to minister specifically to physical needs. In caring for the body, we seek opportunities to minister to the eternally important spiritual needs of individuals. We believe that in Jesus Christ the love, mercy and grace of God are made known to us and to all people.
Services
Mercy exists as an extension of the local Christian community and seeks to be an avenue of ministry for area churches. The vision for this ministry began to form in the fall of 1999 when God brought together a small group of individuals with a common desire to use medicine as a doorway to minister the needs of the low-income uninsured in Athens, Georgia.
Christ Centered - We believe that in Jesus Christ the love, mercy and grace of God are made known to us and to all people Rom. 5:1-2. We seek to follow him - in his identification with and compassion for the poor, the afflicted, and the marginalized Matt. 11:5; Luke 4:18; 6:20; 14:13); in his desire for the physical, emotional, and spiritual wholeness of each individual; in his call to share our resources and talents with each other (Phil.
In order to be eligible for services, patients must be completely uninsured, at or below 150% of the Federal poverty level, and a resident in one of the following counties: Clarke, Barrow, Jackson, Madison, Oconee or Oglethorpe. These patients represent the many stories that are encountered on a daily basis. While each person's level of need may vary, there is a general feeling of hope that God will use Mercy Health Center to bring healing and a better tomorrow. We hope you will join us in praying for each one of these patients!

While I appreciate any place that has people taking time to volunteer, I am beyond disappointed with the way they handle things.... I drove my mom to get her (scheduled) vaccine only to wait two hours for them to say that if it hasn't been 14 days that she can't get it. Why they couldn't have said that on the phone earlier in the day (when they were scheduling said vaccine) is beyond me. Now, "for our troubles of waiting two hours" they assured my mom that they will personally schedule her an appointment. (As if they were doing her a favor)

The care provided by the volunteer medical staff at the Athens, Georgia Mercy Health Center is nothing short of impeccable, HOWEVER, beware of the office manager, Gale Nyseth. She is an emotionally-unstable, extremely hostile, impulsive, explosive, volatile, confrontational TYRANT who will not hesitate to scream “I DON’T CARE!!!” at a patient in the waiting room who dares to question her demands for unquestioning submission and obedience. Her behavior is absolutely atrocious, despicable and completely unprofessional.
She should resign immediately. I was present to observe her subordinate
