Putnam Lumber & Export Company is a wholesale export distributor of lumber, plywood, OSB, and other materials used in the construction industry. Our focus is exportation of Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) lumber, plywood, and OSB from the US to countries all over the world. We supply truck and container load volumes to foreign import wholesale distributors, retail lumberyards, and industrial manufacturers located in countries all over the world.
We supply truckload orders direct from the manufacturer as well as highly mixed loads from our warehouse. With our volume purchasing, we are able to purchase truckloads from multiple suppliers and send out highly mixed loads to our clients. Our exporting roots began with supplying the Caribbean markets SYP and Cypress lumber in 1928. Over the years, Putnam Lumber has expanded into new markets and new product categories. This includes foreign to foreign shipments of plywood originating from Brazil and China. Even though the Caribbean continues to be our most important market, we have grown and expanded into new markets throughout the years.
Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) has long been a preferred species for home and other structures because of its high strength, resistance to wear and ability to hold fasteners. There is a broad range of uses, including: light framing, timbers, exposed beam and roof systems, paneling, siding, millwork, trim, patio decks, scaffolding, bridges, highway structures, and piers.
Putnam Lumber wants to make all customers aware of the American Wood Protection Association (AWPA) Standard for the Use Category System for treated wood. The AWPA Standards for the Use Category System (UCS) for treated wood have been adopted by the International Code Council (ICC). The Use Categories describe the exposure conditions that treated wood may be subject to in service.
Putnam Lumber ships full container loads of pine plywood from Brazil directly to our clients. The predominant species in Brazil are Pinus elliotti (similar to Slash Pine in USA) and Pinus taeda (similar to Loblolly Pine in USA). Exterior pine plywood is manufactured with phenolic based WBP glue for a strong glue line in both wet and dry conditions.
Putnam Lumber ships full container loads of Radiata pine plywood & siding from Chile directly to our clients. The exterior plywood & siding is a product manufactured with rotary cut layers of pine bonded with phenolic adhesive. The face of the panel is repaired and sanded smooth. The direction of the fiber in one layer is perpendicular to the direction of the fiber in the upper and lower layers, making it more resistant than solid wood.
