Housley Peters Law Office
Thank you for being interested in your future and the future of your loved ones. By investigating and implementing Estate Planning and/or Financial Planning, you can have tremendous peace of mind in knowing that you have decided how you and your loved ones will be taken care of - no matter what the future holds.

I originally went to law school to be a prosecutor, but I found Estate Planning and fell in love with the concept of helping people plan to take care of themselves and their loved ones. My office was located downtown until 2006 when I moved to the west end of town.
Services
There are two parts to Estate Planning - planning for what happens during your lifetime and planning for what happens after you die. Lifetime planning allows you to appoint someone else to make decisions on your behalf if or when you become unable to do so yourself. Those decisions could be about your finances or your health care.
A Patient Advocate Designation (also known as Power of Attorney for Health Care, Living Will, or Advanced Directive) is a document in which you appoint another person to speak on your behalf (your Patient Advocate) regarding your medical care, but only if you are unable to communicate your wishes yourself.
You cannot predict the future, so you have no advance warning of when you'll be in an accident or when you will become seriously ill. But you can plan for someone to have authority over your personal and business affairs if an accident or illness comes you way.

A Durable Power of Attorney document (also known as DPOA, Power of Attorney, or Financial Power of Attorney) allows you to appoint another person (your Agent) to act on your behalf and to sign any document that requires your signature.
Because of HIPAA, you have the right to privacy regarding your healthcare information. While it is a good thing to keep our private healthcare information private, sometimes the law can get in the way of common sense. If you become unconscious or unable to communicate with others, HIPAA dictates that your healthcare providers are not allowed to give any of your private healthcare information.
A Last Will and Testament is a document you sign that states who you designate to be in charge of your assets when you die, and who you want to receive those assets. You should consider a Will whether you are single, married, have minor children, or own even a small amount of personal assets or property.

We are very happy with the services of Housley Peters Law Office. Diane was very accommodating and professional. We were working on Estate Planning for my mom, who had mobility issues, and Diane even made a visit to the house to gather information. We were not working on a big estate, mostly Durable Power of Attorney and land deed, but she treated us with the utmost respect and kindness. Any follow-up questions we had were answered in a very timely manner. Diane and her office staff are very down to earth and make you feel comfortable and welcomed. We will definitely use them in the future.

Diane was extremely helpful to my family and I when my mother became terminally ill and eventually passed. I've never needed an attorney before but when our family ordeal started we realized we needed help from an experienced professional. Diane was responsive to questions and took the time to explain things to us. She came out to the assisted living facility to meet with us when mom could no longer travel and we needed Power of Attorney forms completed. She provided us with advice on the Medicare spend down process and our changing options as time passed. Mom didn't have a will, but Diane helped
