Services
This is a private photography workshop. Only you/your group will participate. Learn from an expert how to photograph the night skies and the northern lights (Aurora Borealis) from the best viewing locations for Auroras in Talkeetna without having to scout the vast and unfamiliar winter landscape. During the workshop, I will explain the science.

The images Dora brings to life are full of the electricity in the Aurora. Dora is incredibly dedicated to getting the good shots, having odd sleep patterns and bringing her eye-full of the sky to us. Even if you just stop in and buy a magnet, make time to go into her historic shop and gallery in downtown Talkeetna

I have visited the gallery in Talkeetna, AK, several times when I have stayed overnight in the area to fish during the summer. Her works are awesome, and they show the magnificence of those Northern Lights, the Aurora Borealis. I highly recommend visiting her gallery when in Talkeetna, AK. One might consider visiting the quaint town where Aurora Dora is located at. It's about 15 miles from Glenn Highway going to or coming back from Denali National Park. LC

This woman has an incredible gift of capturing the magic of Alaska. I was visiting Alaska and came upon her store and her work and was FASCINATED by the beauty of her work. I met “Aurora Dora “ in Talkeetna, Sept 2019. Her photo gallery is amazing and she can recall when each photo was taken. She can explain when and why the next aurora may occur and she runs classes for amateur or beginning photographers seeking to capture this inspiring phenomenon. Must See Aurora Dora! Photography is spectacular! We stopped in and Dora has great stories to go with every photo in the shop! Unbelievable how many hours she waits to get one perfect shot of the beautiful landscape in Alaska! We purchased the Rust & Aurora photo that's on aluminum! Dora is very kind and eager to talk about all things photography or Northern Lights. We just browsed, and didn't buy, but we didn't feel hassled or pressured.
If you come to Alaska in the summer, this may be your only chance at glimpsing them.
An added bonus is that if you buy something here you'll be supporting a local photographer. Much better than buying made-in-China junk with "ALASKA" stamped on it.

I just love her photos! Everything about Dora is authentic she is actually out there in the cold of night taking those photos! When I consider that I can't stand to be cold for more than 5 minutes I feel her photography is definitely worth the price.... for all of her suffering lol

What to say? We were not fortunate enough to actually visit the shop as it was closed. We did have the privilege of staying at her cabin and had more than a person could expect for viewing and information about the Aurora. We got to preview some of her work in the residence and discussed our experience in detail with her, at which point we all shared photos we all took at the same time just different locations.

If you visit Talkeetna you must visit Dora's gallery. This was our second trip to Talkeetna and her gallery is not to be missed. We purchased three pieces of artwork from her. First of all she is an amazing, genuine person. She has a way of capturing the Northern Light in the most magical way. We love our pictures. She also offers workshops where she takes you on an adventure of photographing the lights. One of the most memorable parts of our trip.

I have had a fascination with the Northern Lights since I was teased with a small show as a child. We unfortunately made our trip to Alaska in the wrong time of year as the sun hardly set. We had just stopped into Talkeetna for lunch and decided to tour the local gift shops as we let our lunch settle. The woman who owns this shop is a talented photographer who has the most impressive photographs of the Northern Lights. You can purchase photos that are surrounded by a mat but the photos that are printed on metal are exceptional. Crisp and sharp photos of various dates of the Northern Lights and the owner will tell you about each one. Prices seem high for these metal printed photos but the quality and workmanship that goes into capturing these sights is well worth it. No visit to Talkeetna would be complete without a stop in this small but impressive gallery. In my case, it was certainly the highlight, and I would go back just to visit Dora again and enjoy her work.

After hearing a recommendation from a fellow photographer, we were so happy to stumble into Dora's lovely gallery. The images on the wall are continuously captivating and she was more than willing to speak on her work and give some insight to her lovely creations. After seeing the trend of Northern Lights images around Anchorage, it was refreshing to see Dora's original, authentic take on the subject matter. Her work was extremely professional, and printed very well. The colors on the aluminum prints just jump right at you. I couldn't leave without taking one home for my collection

I visited Aurora Dora's photo gallery in March of this year (2015) while waiting for the Alaska Railroad train to bring me back to Anchorage from Talkeetna, AK. She has taken many wonderful pictures of the Northern Lights, many of which can be bought. We spent several days in Talkeetna trying to catch the northern lights over teh winter equinox. We were successful but we ran into Dora who gave me hope for the region. She was more than happy to discuss her work, the lights, camera technique and anything else. I didn't have my own picture to take home but I bought one of hers. It was on aluminium and it it is just beautiful. It should be getting here any day now. I cant wait to hang it and I cant wait to try my luck again in March!
