Now in our 120th year, Southampton Fresh Air Home (SFAH) is a not-for-profit center offering year-round recreational and educational programs for children and young adults with physical disabilities. SFAH provides an environment in which youngsters can socialize with one another and enjoy playing and competing in games and sports designed for them.
Campers mature and develop in the Home's unique and supportive environment of love, understanding, and creative play. Many children who come to the Home enjoy their first experiences of leadership, competition and independence - experiences they carry with them throughout their lives. SFAH is one of the few residential camp facilities in the eastern United States that accommodates physically disabled children.

I attended this camp every summer from the the age of 6 in 1955 until aged 12 in 1961 and it was one of the most important, meaningful experiences of my life. And the most fun! I cherish my wonderful memories. The campers who attend this camp are members of a very exclusive club, and most of the time being a member of this club is not what anyone would want. You see, you have to have a physical disability to be eligible to attend this camp, through the Hospital for Special Services in Manhattan. When I was a child we had many polio victims. Today, while polio is nearly wiped out, the more common
