Representing men in divorce cases is serious business. You are the underdog. In custody matters, the law in Washington favors the parent who has been the primary care provider - usually the wife. In dividing the things that you worked for like your money, your home, your cars, your retirement account and your business, the law favors the spouse who made the least money - usually the wife.
The better question is why would you not hire the most specialized, focused law firm available? Our belief is that Washington State Law can be unfair to men. Many of the laws were written long ago for a different generation and are a bit sexist. Perhaps there was a time when a father's job was to work and a mother's to raise the children.
We are sorry. This is one of the most stressful things a person can go through and we think men have it particularly rough because in addition to losing half of everything they have worked for, they sometimes face losing access to their kids. Keep in mind, your marriage is a failure, you are not a failure.

Child Support is the money each spouse is required pay to support the children of the marriage. Men can get the short end of the stick when it comes to child support because even though the wife is often awarded custody, the husband still has to support his children financially. The term alimony means the same thing as spousal support.

I would NEVER recommend this law firm or Robert Taylor Manning. I hired Robert because he sounded confident in what he was doing.
Communication was a HUGE issue. Robert never returned calls or emails. Our first hearing he was late to by a hour. The second one he did it completely wrong. The judge said “I legally can’t do anything because he did it wrong” and wrote a side note asking “what are you doing to your clients”.
Immediately after that hearing he said we would get a “significant” credit to our account also a credit in the amount of the opposing sides lawyer fees I was awarded
