We started Lola and Friends Childcare Services (L.A.F.) as a way to provide the same kind of warm and loving support we received from this community back when our daughter was much younger and we were new residents in Mountain View.

Services
We are a fully insured and licensed childcare provider located in Mountain View, CA. We offer a home-based care for children from birth to 2 years old in a small group setting (maximum 3) within a peaceful, loving and nurturing home environment. In our effort to raise happy and well rounded children, we do not subscribe to a specific early childhood theory, philosophy or religious teachings.

We had been looking for a daycare which would be a small size, a caring environment with good individual attention while giving the baby some social exposure. Given the pandemic, he had hardly even seen anyone outside of his parents.
We looked into Lola And Friends along with a handful of others and the caregiver Johanna came out with flying colors given her attention to detail and meticulous organization. She had interviews with us and took the time to know us ahead. It was as much as her seeing we were a fit for her daycare as for us.

We absolutely love Johanna. She is very caring and responsible. My daughter started at Lola and Friends when she just turned one and because she is a COVID baby she didn't have a lot of interaction with other people and babies. Hence, I was very concerned and worried about her well-being and transition to a new environment. Johanna put lots of effort and we made sure that the transition is smooth by starting her on a half day. I also loved that Johanna does not push or force to keep babies at her daycare, if baby is unhappy and stressed. We certainly didn't want our daughter to feel abandoned

We were drawn to this daycare by the positive reviews and Johanna's kind and organized nature. After interviewing, we enrolled our 1 year old but he had a hard time adjusting to the new group environment. Before the end of the two week trial period we were abruptly notified through a shared Google doc that he would not be allowed to continue attending, despite earlier indications from Johanna that he was making progress and things were manageable. We would have appreciated clearer communications, a more open dialogue, and greater effort from Johanna on working with us to ease the transition

We put our little one to Lola and Friends at the beginning of 2020. Joanna was very caring, responsible and paid attention to details. She had an "interview" with us before we signed up so we can learn more about Lola and Friends. She communicated with us every morning to learn how our little one was doing at night and her feed time. She also ensured some outdoor time for our baby to learn the nature. Every night she sent us photos and daily report so we can see our baby's growth. I also like the small number of enrolled kids(1 to 3 ratio) so Joanna can pay fully attention to our

We have been signed up with Lola and Friends since the end of 2019 and cannot recommend Johanna highly enough. Even before our son started there she put the time in to get to know us as a family unit, to understand our priorities and make sure we all communicate clearly about what's going on with him. He's been going here since he was about 6 months and thrives there.

We've had our baby son here since he was 5 months old. Mrs. Talbert is amazing and warm, loves our son as her own child, and he loves her. Mrs. Talbert listens to our concerns, works with our needs, and is truly a partner in helping us raise our son. Her home is warm and child friendly, close to local parks and the library where they go on outings frequently, and the children are also provided delicious and healthy home cooked meals and snacks daily. I get detailed reports on his daily activities, which include lots of reading, playing, exercise, and music. Our son is happy here and thriving

Mrs Talbert is a wonderful experienced caregiver for my kids and a huge support for me as a Mom. She is caring, kind, AND consistent in setting limits and expectations. She balances the ability to be flexible and open to what my children are expressing while still moving them through the necessary tasks for the day. I have found her to be clear and transparent in her communications with me, which is so important when communicating with someone who takes care of your children. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caregiver who will be responsible, caring, clear and consistent.

Above and beyond. Mrs. Talbert and her family have been like an extended family to my son. As a single parent with no actual family for thousands of miles, this place has been a life-saver.
My son is 5 and has not always liked all his caregivers, but he loves Mrs. Talbert, her daughter and her husband who are all supportive to the children.
As a working mom, I've often needed after hours care and before hours care. Mrs. Talbert has been very accommodating whenever possible. The children go on field trips together, which my son really appreciates. I feel like he gets additional socio-emotional

Excellent! Johanna is the best childcare provider I have ever met and not only that, she's an amazing person overall! My son is very happy and excited to spend after school at Mrs. Talbert's, her program is structured full of fun and education; they get to play, go on outings and field trips, and plenty and I mean plenty of outside playtime which is great to help burn the extra energy! She is very hands on with the kids and treats them as her own. She will work with you and help you mold your child to become the best version of themselves and as a single mom it is very helpful and appreciated

Johanna is absolutely wonderful! Her program is smaller and she really goes out of her way in taking care of the children like they are her own. Her family is especially supportive of her program, and the place is setup very well to allow for a structured after school program in a homely environment.
The majority of the big daycare programs cannot offer this level of attention and structure. A big advantage is also the flexibility - both me and my wife have to occasionally work long hours and Johanna readily offered to take care of our daughter for extended hours with no issue.

Our son started at Lola and Friends in January, 2019 and absolutely loves the program.
He had a bad experience with the on-site after school care at his elementary school. We found Lola and Friends serendipitously, and it's been an amazing experience so far.
Johanna, the Program Manager, is super reliable. She picks up our son from school each day, and stays up-to-date when the schedule changes (there are many minimum days at my son's school). She also provides daily updates to me - either via text or in person.
