Terrific service and good food I’d love a bit more salt, but it’s Florida, so I do understand the difficulty for restaurants. Definitely will come back for the music too.

What a unique place. Wish we could have stayed for the live music. The staff was fantastic and really worked as a team. I loved the fried green tomatoes and my partner loved the catfish. Yumm

I was very unfriendly greeted at the entrance. The hostess asked me if I would meet friends or if I was on my own. Told her that I was on my own and she told me that I could only be upstairs but not at the rail. As there was no seat downstairs I went upstairs and found a 6 Person table available in the back in the corner. I went back and got my money back. They should know when they are out of capacity as there was another hostess showing guests available seats. I understand that it was just crowded but did not like how unfriendly and unwelcoming they were .

Gospel Brunch buffet was great. Some really good southern food. Service was excellent..but...the Gospel group was terrible. Way too loud and certainly not the Gospel music we were expecting. Our group of 10 people were disappointed to say the least. Been there before for some great Gospel, but this was awful.

The 5 star ratings frustrates me at times, but The Blue Rooster gets 5 because it deserves more than a 4. Chicken is superb, while the waffle was quite dense...to each his own I reckon. Catfish was decent, Fried Green tomatoes not spectacularly either. Bartender seemed like she was Jonesing a bit, but knew her stuff. So quite a lot of “4’s” rather than “5’s”, but I’ll certainly give it another shot, definitely to take in some live music and also experience the Gospel Sunday Brunch. Something just makes me believe The Blue Rooster deserves another visit.

Wanted to try out a local business with music so made out way here. The Memphis Rub Band was playing. They were a Blues Rock Band and they were awesome. The Blue ROOSTER has entertainment lined up many nights during week. With the entertainment comes a $5 cover charge. They don't have an ATM and I never carry cash so they let us add it to our bill.
We only ordered the duck wings since we weren't starving and OMG they were surprisingly delicious. We almost ordered a second round. I'm still thinking about them the next day hahaha.
As the place had every table filled , We sat at the bar. Our bartender

My favorite Sarasota restaurant (and there are many good ones)!
I had the Mahi with Brussels on the side with a nice glass of the Spanish rosé.
I had to pay a $5 cover for the band (Wednesday) and I left before they were into the 2nd set (characteristically their best) but their 1st set was pretty good.

Had the blackened grouper with cauliflower rice and asparagus.
The fish was very firm and dry, apart from that all good.
Wonderful fried green tomatoes.
Overall the food has not been too good recently certainly not as good as in the past.
Still a great place though with a good atmosphere.

Went there for gospel brunch this past Father's Day. After searching for a week for a local brunch buffet I came across Blue Rooster. I called and left a voicemail and Ellen called me back later in the day and was so kind and friendly and was able to secure me a table. They have two separate time slots for brunch, and we got the morning. It's a smaller restaurant and the brunch buffet is set up in the dining room so be prepared for it to be a little crowded. There is classic breakfast foods and southern staples. Some highlights were the cheesy grits, fried green tomatoes, collard greens

From the minute I made our reservation for a surprise birthday party for my mother in law, and told Barbara what was happening, to when we left, and she thanked us...everything was great.
Felicia, our server, was wonderful. The band, Monsoon, was fantastic.
Five people...three had chicken and waffles, one thighs and asparagus, and I had a breast, collard greens and sweet potato fries.
DELICIOUS FOOD!! Chicken, moist, flavorful and not greasy at all. Waffle eaters said best ever, syrup unbelievably good. Sweet potato fries...delectable. Collard Greens...amazing...killer kick.
TOPPER...choc cake

I'm so glad this place is able to operate during Covid! It's really a beautiful thing to see a live Blues band on stage! We only went for drinks...they even had Casamigos Tequila at a reasonable price!!! Everyone should go and listen to the Blues at the Blue Rooster!!! Xoxo

I had fried chicken, collard greens and sweet potato fries. They were all excellent especially the collards. Not something I would expect cooked to perfection in Sarasota. My wife had blackened red snapper which she enjoyed. The band tonite is Kettle of Fish. Their selection of songs was a good mix of songs from 70s and 80s. All over an enjoyable experience. We will come back next time we are are in Sarasota.

Reminds me of the listening rooms in Nashville! Rustic, great atmosphere, good food (great biscuits). My dinner partner said the fried chicken was spicy and delicious. Corking fee if you want to bring your own wine, but leave it at home and try the delicious KY bourbon Mule! Heard Ari and the Alibis- an incredible local band you should also track down and hear live! Great evening. Don't be put off by a music cover- we should pay for such entertainment.

Okay, so the food here is better than Burger King. Not by much, but more diverse. The problem is the woman who greets you at the door. Mgr., Owner, who knows? Who cares?

You can recognized her by her 'full body' but lean tongue. She saves her bad days for the customers that come through the door.

Ya know, it's a shame. The first person you want to meet walking into any retail venue is one that wears a smile, or mouths an hello.

This woman is mad that you decided to visit. So, my answer is, why piss her off even more?

I just go to a better place, nearby.

Problem solved

The food here is delicious. I really like their gumbo and fried chicken. I used to love the fried green tomatoes here as well, but they changed the recipe and made the breading sweet.
The ambience here is cool. It's southern, trendy, industrial.
The service is hit or miss.
The really cool thing is that they have live music all of the time. And the musicians are usually local and perform original music. The venue is not super big, so it gets crowded very easily before bands come in. So you have to come early in order to get a spot.

I had high hopes for Blue Rooster, southern comfort food sounded fantastic. The experience was rough from the start. We arrived with a party of 7 and the hostess said she might not be able to accommodate us. Fine, I get this is a larger group. She pushed some tables together in the back near the kitchen entrance. We were then told that they had live music starting in 30 minutes so there'd be a cover charge for each person in our group. $5/per person. Two of which were children. I come from the live music capital of the world, rarely have I paid a cover charge in a restaurant when I'm

Sunday brunch is a buffet in a tight back corner that makes it easy to become friends not only with the staff but with everyone on line waiting to fill their plates. I have to say I was not disappointed with the meal options on this brunch and you can really eat as much as you want or as little. The staff makes sure that fresh trays are coming out on a smooth rotation and the areas are kept clean.

Yes, the meal is Southern, but you do not have to eat what you don't want. I was concerned if this Yankee could find something to eat and before I knew it my plate was full and I still needed to

I was looking foe some good down home southern food and found it. It's all about the food. Using fresh ingredients with a southern twist the Blue Rooster is popping on all levels. I was greeted at the door with a smile a great hospitality. The restaurant was preparing for a big party holiday party with all the seats reserved including the bar. I was only eating with one other person and that was my mother in law. We were encouraged to stay and assured we has time to eat before the big party arrived. We ordered drinks , we ordered Hearty gumbo - delicious and spicy, we ordered Crazy Cajun

I wish lived closer to Sarasota! What a great place! My wife and joined another couple for dinner and entertainment. One of our favorite bands (Kettle of Fish) was playing and we always wanted to checkout this place.

Atmosphere - the minute you enter you get a relaxed vibe. There is a small bar on the left and the bands are squeezed in along the wall on the right. The place is rustic and the tables are pretty tightly grouped, but it adds to the ambiance. Be prepared to deal with a very loud experience.

Service - very good, especially considering how crazy busy the place was that night.

I stand by my earlier review that you should eat somewhere else and come here for the music. This is our third time for food and music and the food continues to be bad, so we are officially done with eating here. The chicken was dried out and hard, so I am guessing it was just warmed up. The mashed potatoes were so full of pepper that my mouth was on fire.

The music has always been great so we will continue to come for the music.

In my opinion this is by far the best live music club / restaurant in SRQ. There are no bad seats in the house, a decent sized dance floor, good service and good food. Please note that I am saying the food is good to very good not Great.

Blue Rooster gets the best bands in SRQ on a regular basis. They have a pretty good selection of beers and hard liquors but their wine choices are limited.

I have eaten several of the options on the menu. My favorite is the blackened Salmon. Everything I've had is at least good to very good but nothing is Outstanding. Clearly their strong suit is
