Louis Joyner Architect LLC is a Columbus, Indiana-based architectural practice offering full architectural services for commercial, residential, institutional, and historic preservation projects. Established in 2000, the firm draws upon many years of experience with a broad range of architectural projects.
Central to our practice is a deep sense that the role of an architect is to understand, manage and balance the competing forces that affect an architectural project. We believe that design serves the client best when we use our aesthetic sense to reflect the values and functional goals of our client, and allow it to be tempered by the realistic constraints of practical and financial considerations.

In 2015, LJA performed a condition assessment of First Christian Church, designed by Eliel and Eero Saarinen, completed in 1942 and a National Historic Landmark. The assessment identified projects needing urgent repair.
The first of these projects, now complete, was for replacement of a leaking skylight and installation of blinds on the monumental east window, restoring the quality of light in the sanctuary that had been lost due to occlusion of the skylight and the additional of an inoperable blind on the window. The second project addressed concerns related to the tower, a 166' tall masonry structure.

The Miller House, designed by Eero Saarinen with interiors by Alexander Girard and landscape by Dan Kiley, is one of the most significant works of residential design of the 20th century. The house was designated a National Historic Landmark while Irwin and Xenia Miller were still living there, the first time that has happened in the history of the program.
