Since being founded 1981, Native Excavating has grown into one of the largest construction companies in Steamboat Springs. Ed MacArthur graduated from CSU in 1979 and came to Steamboat Springs with his wife, June following close behind. When they first arrived in Steamboat, June worked as a secretary at the Mount Werner Water District and Ed was still making a living in construction.
In 1981, Ed decided to go into business for himself and scraped together enough money to buy the rubber-tired backhoe that would pave the future of Native Excavating Inc. After getting married in 1982, Ed's determination in the business and June's ability to run the company's small office proved to be the perfect recipe for success.

Services
Native Excavating is available each winter for your commercial, residential, and subdivision plowing and shoveling needs. On-top of our plowing operations, we offer a "sanding" service, whereby scoria-sand is spread on your driveway/parking lot/road daily to prevent vehicle slippage. We plow on storms of 4 inches or more (2 for commercial properties), and are always available on an on-call basis.
At Native Excavating we understand the value of quality employees. For as long as we've been around, Native has offered the value of a complete employment package, with the belief that the better our employees are doing, the better off we'll be as a company. Twenty percent of Native Excavating's yearly profits are returned to our employees in the form of profit sharing and bonuses, an unprecented contribution in our field.

Either lack of education, training or both of drivers. Within a month I know someone with a busted windshield from a dump driving the opposite direction pulling out from the gravel pit on 131, another driver hits a friend on a moped on 40 downtown Boat and now behind a CAT driver who doesnt know what "slow moving vehicles" are nor the laws pertaining to them on public roads. What's the deal with Native Excavating drivers?!
