While you likely have heard about Lumen Christi's academic excellence, small class sizes and sports teams, we want to share with you what makes our school community so unique. Lumen Christi High School students now have the opportunity to take college courses for both high school and college credit through the University of Alaska Fairbanks eCampus Advantage program.
There is a lot to like about our community, including faith, family and excellence, but why don't we let our students share why they love Lumen Christi! Don't forget about our Incentive Discount Program: A family or household who has referred a student to Lumen Christi will receive a $1,000 incentive discount per student referred who has successfully enrolled at Lumen Christi, up to $2500 per school year.

Services
Lumen Christi offers a place for spiritual growth and a strong educational foundation for youth in grades 7-12. Daily emphasis on God's love for us helps foster a strong faith. As our students study Catholic Christian beliefs they strengthen their desire to serve others, developing into responsible, respectable and humble young women and men.
In 1956, the Jesuits opened Copper Valley School (CVS) in Glenallen, Alaska. Although Copper Valley closed in 1971, the school's alumni took the CVS traditions and revived the school in Anchorage as Lumen Christi Catholic High School. It opened with four teachers, a teaching principal, a secretary, and 33 students.
The following lays out the five areas of strategic direction that the Lumen Christi High School School Board will be pursuing over the next three years. These five areas constitute a synthesis of Board perspective and responses to a Lumen Christ parent conducted in early 2019. All responses were considered in formulating these five areas.
Lumen Christi's mascot is the Archangel. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (334-336) states, the whole life of the Church benefits from the mysterious and powerful help of angels. From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession. Besides each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life.
Our faculty and staff come with a wide range of experience, expertise, and enthusiasm. Whether this is a second career or the beginning of their professional lives, our teachers bring a richness of diversity, knowledge, and wisdom to share and impart to our students. Without exception, Lumen Christi graduates are ready to embrace life as global citizens and lifelong learners thanks to the dedicated teaching staff.

As a non-Catholic, I was worried my kids would receive either corporal punishment or religious indoctrination.
I’m delighted to report that not only have neither of these occurred, but Lumen has surpassed all my expectations how kids are treated and educated. Both character and academically.
Previous ASD teachers would regularly offer my kids time to redo poor test scores or missed homework. Nice for the kid? Yes, but not preparing them for the tough road ahead. Prepare the child for the road, not the road for the child.
I was surprised how affordable LC is, and that they now offer a limited

We are huge fans of Lumen. Our son is getting an amazing academic curriculum with teachers and staff who sincerely care about his future and well being. We know he will be ready for College and the world when he graduates from Lumen. They truly teach and support confidence, giving, kindness and living up to each student's full potential. I'm excited to see where my child will land after his time at Lumen. I know they are preparing him for a great future!

This is our second year at Lumen Christ and we are extremely happy with the choice we made for our daughter. The above-average test scores and 100% graduation rate are a direct result of the high-quality teaching and the caliber of the staff, who take an effective, creative approach to teaching, while emphasizing the Catholic faith. The extracurricular activities are an added bonus (our daughter has participated in soccer, band, and student government) and the small class sizes with active participation create a vibrant learning experience. The affordable tuition is also one of the lowest in Anchorage

I'll be honest. My son didn't want to go to Lumen. All he wanted was to attend public school with his friends from elementary school and the kids from our neighborhood. But the small class sizes, caring, dedicated teachers and staff and the faith component were no match for his repeated pleas, whines even tears!
