After graduating from Detroit College of Law and passing the bar exam (State Bar of Michigan) in 1996, Thomas went to work for Brian Lavan and Associates handling divorce and family law cases. In 2007 Thomas opened his own firm, the Law Office of Thomas M. Spackey PLC, in Brighton, Michigan to practice Family Law and help clients work through the divorce process, custody situations, estate planning, wills and all aspects of family law.

I am a lawyer. I didn't start out to be a lawyer. I attended Eastern Michigan University studying business management. It was there that my love for law and my desire to be a lawyer began. It was my Business Law course. I would save my Business Law homework until all my other homework was done, because I knew that once I got started on the Business Law reading I would get so engrossed and enjoy it so much that I wouldn't put it down.
Thomas got me through the most difficult time in my life, and help me keep my sanity and soul intact. He was incredibly responsive, and on top of every aspect of my case. Thomas assisted my brother-in-law with his Divorce. He was extremely professional, honest, very thorough and has an excellent grasp of family law. He was very easy to talk to and will follow your wishes, but will also advise what is best on your behalf. He is not afraid to champion your position. He performed extremely well under some very challenging situations. My husband and I would highly recommend Thomas for anyone going through a divorce.

Thomas represented my daughter in her divorce and custody case. He did an outstanding job in what was very difficult situation for our family.
