The Lazy 'K Ranch was founded by the Kuhn family in 2014 for upland game preservation and cold-water fisheries conservation. The property is managed under a NJ woodland management plan in order to create the best possible habitat for native species and to preserve the cold headwaters of the Paulinskill River.
In the year 2020, we officially became a Certified Family Forest as part of the American Tree Farm System. The ranch sits on 25 acres of land abutting the 280+ acre Frelinghuysen Forest Preserve on an unnamed tributary of the Paulinskill. There is mixed hardwood and softwood stands along with narrow and oddly shaped fields contributing to the suitability for wildlife in the area.

The Lazy "K" Ranch has partnered with The Last Frontier Angler to offer our guests a wide variety of guided fishing opportunities in the Warren and Sussex County areas. We offer guided walking (wading) trips on the Paulinskill River, the Big Flat Brook and wild trout streams. If you don't know how to Fly Fish, that is not a problem, at the ranch, we offer a three hour learning experience.
The Lazy K Ranch by way of our partner The Last Frontier Angler, offers full service guided Fly Fishing throughout New Jersey's Warren and Sussex County's. Our services are centered around and offered in the Blairstown, Stillwater, Walpack and Sandyston New Jersey area. The Last Frontier Angler is a full service, "western-style" guiding outfit focused on the customer's outdoor adventure experience.
Meet us at the ranch, we will provide all of the equipment. Receive one on one casting instruction with our practice casting rods. Once you get comfortable with the basics we will graduate you to our three acre pond with natural Bass and Sunfish supplemented with stocked Tiger Trout. Our guides will row you around and take care of all the details allowing you to focus on learning the basics.
Do you want to try ice fishing but do not own any gear or equipment? This Ice Fishing Adventure trip was designed just for you! Guided ice fishing is available in Northern New Jersey lakes and ponds through Last Frontier Angler. In addition to our private water, lakes we typically guide include Lake Hopatcong, White Lake, Swartswood Lake and Lake Aeroflex.
