You may be sore from over-exercise, or you may have a more serious condition - such as bursitis, tendonitis, or pelvic pain that requires a closer look. Even a severe strain or sprain may warrant individual therapy sessions. If so, whether it's stabbing, throbbing or pins-and-needles pain - or a stiff shoulder, knee or hip - Back to Basics can help with safe, effective physical therapies.
When you arrive for a visit, you won't have to wait long - and you'll have our undivided attention. We'll take the time to answer all your questions, and explain our treatment methods. After all, wellness education is an essential part of therapy. The therapy you need may be rehabilitative or preventive.
A woman's body has its own form and its own rhythms. It also has its own challenges. For unique health issues women face, Back to Basics provides gentle, effective therapy and instruction. Although we do have the latest technology, we don't over-rely on machines. At Back to Basics we emphasize a more personal approach, to reciprocate the nurturing touch that comes naturally to a woman.
Pelvic conditions are more commonly associated with women and childbearing. However, men deal with their own unique pelvic symptoms which are generally less understood and under-treated. Often, pelvic floor muscle dysfunction or nerve impingement in the pelvis leads to pain which can be effectively treated with physical therapy.
Children often require a special touch. As a family-oriented health provider, Back to Basics provides therapy and instruction for some of the more sensitive problems children can face. With services provided under the gentle guidance of Francine Nol-Ford, Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified Manual Therapist, Back to Basics is dedicated to a more personal approach that won't intimidate children.

If you are experiencing issues with your pelvic floor, I highly recommend Jennifer Rich! She was able to accurately diagnose my situation and provide the appropriate therapy for my recovery. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable on the subject, but also is a wonderful person to work with! She truly cared about me as a person, and I am forever grateful for her care!

Who usually states that Physical Therapy is great?? It is hard work, determination, focus and consistency!! Dr. Noel-Ford and her staff at Back to Basics Physical Therapy were absolutely incredible! She was knowledgeable, helpful, kind and very thorough! She is tough when she needs to be, and because of the treatment I received, I am 90% better and still doing everything she instructed me to do! As a Speech Pathologist I have observed many physical therapists at work and have been exposed to numerous therapy settings. I personally received PT tx twice before coming to Back to Basics. So I feel I am uniquely qualified to give Francine Noel Ford and her staff my highest recommendation! Francine's diagnosis of my problem was "spot on". I experienced immediate (and lasting) improvement with her use of clinically proven techniques and the follow-up exercises taught by her staff. Thank you, Francine, to you and your staff!

The wonderful staff at Back to Basics truly changed my life from the moment I began physical therapy. Dr. Ford has incredible skill in making you feel safe while undergoing very intimate pelvic floor dysfunction physical therapy. Not only did I feel major pain relief after just a couple sessions, now I'm fully armed with the knowledge on how to stay feeling better. Thank you Dr. Ford, Mary Kate, Amanda and Jennifer, y'all always treated me with compassion and kindness.

I live in Lynchburg. I was diagnosed with bladder spasms and was referred to the local (Centra) physical therapy department to see a pelvic floor specialist. The wait was 2 months!! No way! I was miserable. So my doctor sent me to Dr. Ford. She saw me within a week. With 15 years experience, she knew exactly what to do: after 3 visits I was 99% better The drive from Lynchburg was over an hour but it was TOTALLY worth it . Dr. Ford saved the day!

My doctor recommended family physical therapy for some internal scarring related to a surgery, and I am so thankful. Dr. Ford and staff (thanks Amanda) not only treated and reduced the scar and pain with multiple methods (e-stim, dry needling, and massage), they also taught me exercises and scar therapies to do on my own and improve my overall health.
While my primary issue was internal, I was shocked to realize that it had been affecting my back, leg, and hip area. No matter what your therapy need, Back to Basics can help. I highly recommend them and their approach using your own body and resistance
