Services
Johnson Funeral Home was organized in 1954 in a small building on College Street beside the old Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Several years later, the old church was purchased in order to expand the funeral home facilities. In 1964, the funeral home was purchased by Bobby and Doris Johnson.

Shellie was able to understand me through my garbled crying language after losing my son. It took us a few days to get through it all but she did not rush us. She explained every step and held a hurting, sore, Mom's hand through each step. God bless you and thank you sooooo much!

Having to lose a parent like my mom was difficult for my family. But, Mrs. Shellie Smith and the Johnson Funeral Home went above what I would have expected of a funeral home. Even Mr. Brian Young who went to Ellis Airport to pick up my Uncle Mike the morning of the funeral and the next morning taking him back to Ellis Airport for his flight back to the Washington. She and her staff were more than helpful and helping my dad out with comfort and information that he needs to care of.

They have a superb staff at this funeral home. They are very compassionate people. They have treated my family and me with great respect and have gone out of their way to assist us. I want to especially thank Jeffrey Rynaski, Tina Wagoner, and Brian Young. Shellie Smith, the Planning Coordinator, has been very special. She has provided me with such great guidance and information that without that information I would be still struggling. She is a class act and a credit to her profession.

Having lost my grandma AND my uncle a day apart and having a double funeral for them, they made everything so much easier for us in this stressful and sorrowful time! They were all so unbelievably comforting and all accommodating. The genuine empathy they expressed to each of us was amazing! Their facility was so clean and welcoming. Their motto was “our families first” and that was shown in everything they did. They exceeded our expectations and I recommend them to anyone who has lost a loved one!

I cannot say enough good things about Johnson’s Funeral Home and the kindness and thorough attention to detail that they served my family with at the time of my mother’s passing. When they came to pick up my mother’s body from our home, they were compassionate and respectful, and handled her with every care and caution.
Later that day when I met with the funeral director, Katie, I was still in shock, but she patiently helped so much with all of the details. I never felt rushed or pressured to do anything my brother hadn’t arranged. I forgot to ask questions and was not really aware of

Loosing a parent is very difficult. Johnson Funeral Home made the process bearable, especially Katie. I was taken back by how gentle, caring, and patient she was. I realized what a gift she was and how God has angels placed everywhere for anything we could possibly encounter in our lives that proves to be difficult. A note to the owners of Johnson Funeral Home, I am a Founder and CEO of a non profit organization and I want to congratulate you on choosing a top notch employee. As you know, it truly makes a difference in the community and the organization in which we serve. Thank you!

A very big heartfelt thank you to Hannah at Johnson Funeral Home. Very unexpectedly our family experienced the loss of our beautiful very loved Kris. Her disabled husband, children, and grandchildren have all been treated with care, concern, and compassion by Hannah and all the staff. As special as we have been made to feel, we are not unique. This level of service is absolutely their mission, and it comes from their heart. Thank you and God Bless you.
