A cooperative exists to serve its members, but what makes co-ops unique is that the members are also the owners! In addition to getting the products and services you need, you also have a say in the business decisions your cooperative makes. Co-ops are voluntary organizations, open to all persons able to use their services and willing to accept the responsibilities of membership/ownership without discrimination.
The Syracuse Cooperative Market is open to EVERYONE. The Co-op is here to provide a member-owned business to the community looking for the services we provide. Membership-ownership is Voluntary, you DO NOT need to be a member-owner to shop here. Cooperatives are democratic organizations controlled by their member/owners, who actively participate in setting their policies and making decisions.

Syracuse Cooperative Market is owned, controlled, and used by member-owners; individuals who are invested in the mutual benefit that our sustainable, thriving, cooperative commerce brings to our community. Your contribution and continued participation in the Syracuse Cooperative Market is a valuable investment for you individually.
Many boards use the Policy Governance model as a powerful tool to structure governance. In brief, Policy Governance offers a way to clearly delegate authority to a single person, typically the cooperative's general manager; and then to monitor the performance of the organization according to clearly articulated written policies.
Our Kensington Rd. store is located on the Eastside of Syracuse, in the Westcott Neighborhood. Our Salina St. store is located in Downtown Syracuse. Yes we do. We have vegan products such as almond milk, soy milk and meat substitutes, etc. The Co-op also has great choices for vegetarians. If you're looking for gluten free food, the Co-op has good selections for your eating pleasure.
Turkey reservations are now open! We source our fresh, pasture-raised turkeys from Oink and Gobble Farm in Interlaken, NY, so you can support a local farm while feeding your family a better bird. Turkeys are $4.49/lb and available in a range of sizes*. Small turkeys are typically limited in quantity and very high in demand.
The Co-op can special order cases of products that we may not carry in store. Co-op Members get a 10% (15% seniors) discount off case orders, non-members pay retail price. Payment is due at the time of order. All returns are subject to a 10% restocking fee for orders not picked up within one week (7 days) of receipt/call.

I spend a lot in here. I just had an awkward moment with their grocery buyer. It was like pulling teeth to get an answer. Previously a worker who is very helpful and knowledgeable, said she'd try and get a sample of an item I am interested in. I wasn't sure if she told me she inquired, but couldn't get the item, or if she said, she hadn't had a chance to inquire yet. The food buyer behaved as if I was inquiring about something major. He had a pretentious attitude. Unfortunate!

High prices defeat idea of affordable shopping for residents living in the downtown area who are mostly low income or on.a budget. The organic and natural products are cheaper and often the same brand at wegmans and price chopper. Annie's products and dairy and snacks are less cost at local grocery stores.

What can I say, it's a great place to shop for regular foods, or if you are looking for organic products of all kinds, and fresh organic produce, then this is the place to shop...
I'm very happy every time that I shop there...
Ohh yes, the personnel are the best, as they are professional and friendly and very helpful...
They are glad to answer any questions you may have🤗

Another gem inside the Salt City Market. We came through here as out of towners just to eat lunch and check out the market. The Cooperative Market was so awesome we bought some snacks for our hotel room. We got some cheddar cheese, chorizo, chips and salsa. All were delicious and we would happily buy them again in a heartbeat.
This market was clean, well stocked and organized. They have fresh, local and organic food. It’s amazing to see how much they fit into a small space we came across fresh produce, cheese, charcuterie, snacks, spices, dry goods, cleaning supplies, beverages, ready made stuff

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The store is very organized. The staff follows cdc guidelines by sanitizing periodically and wearing face masks, that's what I personally observed. Everything I purchased was so fresh and tasty. They have a big selection of products. The biggest perk for me is that they have a freezer section and a produce section. They also sell reusable bags.
