Services
White Creek Lumber and Hardware originated in the muddy winter of 1987-88 and opened in May of 1988. The new business was the vision of Adrian Vander Stoep, who had originally founded the store in the area now called Plainfield Township in 1947. In 2005, White Creek Lumber and Hardware came under new ownership.

Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't important! The insulation in your home is what protects the building and the people inside it from rapid changes in temperature. Good insulation does more than just keep temperatures inside stable; it also decreases the costs of heating and cooling the building.

Wonderful to see that someone thinks your rights are your's even in epidemic. Good place to do business, unfortunately hrs. are manipulated so the guy who works for livin has hard time making it. Get 5 stars stay open later it's not all about the money we make NOW. Aaron is great

I called 5 times this morning and no one answered. I drove in and there were 4 employees waiting to help. The product I was looking for was nearly double the price here compared to a competitor, so I wasted a trip out.
They were friendly when I was able to actually speak with an employee.

I appreciate that the staff on hand is kind enough to say “Thank you for your service,” when they learn I am a veteran.
But, it’s actually an insult for a maskless employee to thank an Afghanistan war vet during a pandemic while not wearing a mask. The virus kills people with pre-existing lung conditions and lung disease is common among desert war veterans.
Maybe, instead of the empty insulting platitudes, you might choose to wear a mask and help protect veterans who just want to buy a tool.

Terry T is right... Went in there today to buy about $40 worth of goods and neither employee at front desk had a mask on. Just absolute stubborn recklessness in my opinion. Their choice I guess....like Terry, I now choose to spend my money at Ace in Rockford where every employee is wearing a mask.

Unfortunately, I need to edit my earlier review, below in quotes. Although I still feel the same about their help and lumber yard, their flagrant disregard for using masks during the pandemic is an issue I feel strongly about. Many customers and most of their employees do not wear masks. Therefore, I need to take my business elsewhere where I feel it is safer to shop. Sad, because this has been a favorite place for lumber and hardware for me since their store opened about 25 years ago.
"Friendly help. Great lumber yard."

Great store with friendly staff. Good inventory selection. If they don't stock what I need they are happy to track it down and order it for me. Very helpful for someone working in property management!

All the staff is very friendly and helpful. Prices are competitive, often times same or better than the big box stores. They have a large selection of most everything you would need. If not, they will order in. The staff gives this store a small hometown feel because they’re so helpful. Lumber is often straight and of good grade.

Helpful and friendly staff. Prices are a little high than big box stores but worth it. Obviously they can’t buy the quantities that those big box stores do, which ends up costing them more. But for the extra I spend here it goes into my community by supporting this small business. They have a great selection of many quality products too. Also when I buy lumber from here the board don’t spin 180 degrees from one end to the other. Like some that are at the big box stores.
