An adult flea is about 1/8 inch long with a flat, brownish black body but can be a reddish color after a feeding. Female fleas lay about 4-8 eggs after each feeding and their eggs can hatch anywhere from 1-12 days. The eggs can be found on a dog or cats hair or in the carpet but are carried in the home by the animal or even by us.
Silverfish are about 1/2 inch long, silvery in color, and can move quite rapidly. Found throughout the house, from basement to attic, they prefer a damp environment. Silverfish feed on paper, fabrics, and cereals. Glue and wallpaper paste also serve as food. We have found throughout the years that those wonderful crafts the kids bring home from school are a favorite food source for silverfish.
