SMC is proud to join the team of primary care providers in Shoshone County to work together in advancing healthcare in the Silver Valley. Our goal is to promote overall wellness for you and your family. The newly opened SMC Family Medicine focuses on quality, compassionate care throughout all stages of life.
Primary care providers have an option to have their patients admitted by and cared for in the hospital by a Hospitalist. This service gives the patient the best of both worlds. They have 24 hour physician care while they are in the hospital and their primary care physician has more time to spend with them in their office setting.
The SMC Laboratory can do blood tests for any physician - even your specialist from outside the Silver Valley - with a physician's order. Same Day Results: Results are faxed to your physician within 4 hours of collection. If results are critical, we call your doctor to make sure they are notified as soon as possible.

I scheduled to covid test yesterday, and called and confirmed that they had received my order from my primary care physician this morning. In that phone call the hospital confirmed that they had received the order from my doctor and that I was on track for a covid test. I arrive and the hospital says that they do not have the order and therefore cannot test me. This is after 20 minutes waiting past my appointment. The lab technician was kind enough to swab me and told me to get the order resent. I immediately go home after my nose swab, call the hospital one more time to verify that I had the correct

They do not treat you for pain. I have a kidney disease that causes me to pass kidney stones frequently. Most of the time my family doctor will prescribe a pain med, anti nausea med, and another med that helps open everything up so the stone can pass more easily. If I have these 3 meds I can usually pass the stone at home within a few days. This time was different. I was in so much pain that I was throwing up over and over and couldn’t keep my anti nausea medication down. After about 12 hours of this I finally went to Shoshone medical center for fluids, ant nausea meds, and something for the

Overall, I am not impressed with my local hospital. When I was a kid, it was fine. The doctors and nurses stayed for a long time and cared about their patients. Now, I honestly can't say that so much.
I came in through the ER with severe vomiting, nausea, dizziness, and diarrhea via ambulance. Both the EMRs and ER was told I am partially deaf. Apparently this fact was not related to the ER doctor. Ochoa, I believe, is his name. My fiance was able to come in and relay information as I was doing everything I could to just breathe and not lose my non-existent cookies. The doctor kept asking questions

Unfortunately I have had to be rushed to this hospital a couple of times. I dont even know why. The two times I can remember, they did nothing but make things worse. They weren't able to get an IV in me my arms were so bruised and rashy from their attempts. The last time I got rushed there they thought I was having an ectopic pregnancy and wouldn't even call their ultrasound tech in. They gave me an ibuprofen and a pregnancy test even tho I knew I was pregnant already, and then sent me to kootenai. It cost me over 2000$ for that visit. Went in for lab work the other day and they completely disregarded

Wow....i have been visiting the Wound Clinic for 2 weeks and I am so impressed with the incredible care I've received from the staff!!! Each and everyone, Susan, who handles the appointments, Rose, who makes sure i'm comfortable, Heather, a nurse and wound care specialist, and is the best wound dresser and so knowledgeable with the WoundVac… system, and Amber, the nurse who makes sure my records are sent to my vascular surgeon and has helped me emotionally work through a very dark place in my life right now as a new amputee. Then, of course, there's Doctor Lakko, who oversees every aspect

They do not do a very good job here. I've had to go twice, once to take care of a bill, and another for blood work. They're severely disorganized and the receptionists don't have any answers to any questions. I was waiting on a thyroid blood test and it took them over three weeks to send my results to my doctor. When I called and complained, it took them less than a day to send it after that. I would NOT recommend going here as they don't have any idea what they're doing.

Had to take a friend of mine here due to abdominal pains, they told my friend it was gas built up and recommended maalox plus and told my friend the pains are of an unknown cause...3 days later.. the pain… continued.. so took my friend back again... same exact thing.. unknown cause.. plus on the instructions it says to avoid nsaids... yet says to take ibuprofen.. is this supposed to be a nasty trick? some decent medical practice would be nice out here... so now.. the pain continues.. with nobody able to help.

Dr Hanson was so helpful and got stuff done! I was waiting for over an hour when Backman was there but his shift ended so Hanson was in my room in minutes. I had alot of pain in my neck. He gave me several shots of diloted and zofran. It got rid of the pain next morning but was throwing up all night. Zofran didn't work for.me. the nursing staff was so kind to me too!

While I'm grateful to have a facility in the Valley... Our daughter was in the emergency room back in Feb. Everyone was great, but I felt the staff wasn't super knowledgeable when it came to pediatrics. Since then, we've had nothing but issues with the billing department. They keep billing the wrong insurance and even after stopping in three times, still have it incorrect and even have the wrong name for our daughter in their system.

I had my first ever Mammogram here with their new 3D technology. WOW - it was so cool seeing the crystal clear images - you could even see the dimples on my skin! I expected it to hurt or at least be uncomfortable but it was not! The staff, especially Juneal, put me at ease with her knowledge and humor. I will make sure to drive here from my home in Cd'A just to get my annual mammograms at SMC. Great job!

Everyone was wonderful helping to get my son inside because he was about to pass out from closing all his fingers in our truck door. From the knuckle up a couple of his fingers were pointing straight up. I was so scared because he was in so much pain he kept feeling like he was going to pass out. With my son being so tall I was so scared he would… indeed pass out and hurt himself worse. They got him straight in and by the time they got to him he had lost all feeling in his hand. With everyone working together as a team they were able to fix him up and calm this very scared mama down. Thank

Went to Shoshone Medical center late Sunday night with an acute asthma attack. They took me right in and from the CNA to the nurse to Dr Ochoa were all very professional, kind and concerned. I was there about 4 hrs and received treatment that did improve my lungs. Dr Ochoa did discharge me with prescriptions. I was passing through from a trip to… Alaska and trying to get back to my home in Florida. Their kindness made things easier when we are so far away from home. I am definitely struggling still but just started on prednisone so hoping to improve. He warned me to go back to an E. R somewhere
