Our lodging units are open for business, but the restaurant & lounge are closed due to a fire. Motel Unit #3 has four single beds and can connect directly with the Apartment for larger groups. The Hill Motel provides outdoor enthusiasts with year-round direct access to Minnesota's natural amenities.

Conveniently located on Minnesota Hwy. 46 in Squaw Lake, MN, we have seven exceptionally clean and comfortable lodging units that sleep from one to 11 people, and feature air conditioning, cable TV and wi-fi. One unit even has a gas stone fireplace. Ample parking is provided and convenient outdoor electrical outlets are available in the parking area for charging batteries or plugging in vehicles on cold winter nights.
Services
The Loft is a very clean and comfortable log cottage with vaulted ceiling that can sleep up to 11 people. It has two bedrooms on the main floor, each with two single beds, plus seven single beds in the loft area. The cottage features a gas stone fireplace, forced air heat, air conditioning, wi-fi and cable TV.
The Hill Laundromat is a clean and professional laundromat located just of Hwy. 46 in Squaw Lake. Open to the public, we offer high efficiency, large capacity coin-operated Speed Queen washers and gas heat dryers perfect for all your loads of laundry. For your convenience, the laundromat is air conditioned in the summer.
The Hill Motel is centrally located to fishing the best walleye fishing lakes in Minnesota. From unbeatable walleye fishing, to large populations of jumbo perch, walleye, northern pike, large-mouth bass, blue gills, sunfish and crappies, you'll find Minnesota's best fishing just a short drive in any direction from the motel.
Red Lake is one of Minnesota's great fishing lakes. The Red Lake walleye fishery offers the opportunity to fish for Minnesota's state fish - the walleye. Walleye abundance has increased dramatically from the mid-1990's when the walleye population crashed.

Walleye fry stocked in 1999, 2001, 2003, 2006 and subsequent years as part of the recovery plan established a large population of young fish, and DNR test netting indicates the stocking was a huge success. Now those fish are mature and contributing to natural reproduction.
For those looking to take a riding vacation, northern Minnesota is an ATVers dream destination. You can set up camp here at The Hill Motel and then ride hundreds of miles of trails thru local, state and national public lands. All-terrain vehicles are an excellent way to experience some of northern Minnesota's most beautiful landscapes.

A great place to stay with great owners! The location is easy to access the highway with arc and snowmobile trails right there, local bars near by and plenty of Great Lakes to fish and duck hunt. Give them a call Jerry and Danielle will take care of you!

Just used the laundromat a couple times. If you're in the Squaw Lake area and need to get some laundry done, they're reasonably priced. Got some out of order issues and no bill changer for quarters so you'll have to bring your own. Also, bring your own detergent and fabric softener.

Large accomodations, with different room schemes to fit 2 up to 12. Fishing across the road! Reasonable room rates, friendly owners, facilities for cooking and on site laundry!

The Hill sadly has burned down and is no more. The hotel/motel is still open as is the laundromat. Hopefully this great place will be rebuilt.

Saturday night Prime rib...excellent.
Service...excellent.
When it's crowed on weekends expect to have a wait time but it's worth the wait if you plan on having Prime Rib dinner. It's a big steak that I usually can't finish but it's good for lunch the next day.

Great ribs on Fridays, good service, what more can you ask for?
The Phillies are always strong as are the Reubens. Salads with actual green leafy vegetables not just that flavorless dressing delivery device known as iceberg.
Prime rib specials, a good steak entree make up a place better than just your local joint.

Met family here as a half-way point. Staff was nice, food was pretty good.
Staff was friendly but somewhat inattentive, especially considering there weren't very many other people even there.
Prices were about as expected.
Lots of Taxidermy animals here to look at. My boys were fascinated, but some may be bothered by it (I hope not if you are in the middle of nowhere in northern MN, but I mention it)....

The food is fantastic, along with the pricing. Been coming up to the hill since the mid-70s and have never been disappointed, and that's not an exaggeration. They have really set a serious service standard that is uncanny supersedes other local businesses.

Visiting the Lost 40 and stopping at all the concrete fish / animals along the way. Can't pass up a nice bar with a concrete goose across the way. Good drinks and made friends with another couple at the bar. She won $200 on the pull tabs and bought us all a round! Thanks!

It was fine. Slower service but food and drinks were good. I'm not sure you can expect any more for this area. Menu isn't all too thrilling. The burgers were good. Fries are boring, standard frozen fries. Salads were fresh. The kid meals were average. The raspberry dressing on the chicken salad was a highligh. If we lived in the area, We'd go back.

Where we live in Northern MN, the restaurants are pretty spread out in this area. When going out to get a bite to eat, whether it is for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and wanting to go some place different, we know we will be going for a car ride to one of the nearby small towns or to a resort that serves food. We don't mind the drive as it is beautiful country up here. Also, we will definitely be eating with the locals.

So on Mother's Day, we decided to drive to Squaw Lake and eat at The Hill. It is about 30 miles away from our home. We arrived around 7:10pm. When we walked in, no
