We are dedicated to offering safe and effective training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for children and adults of all genders, levels, and ages. Holy City Jiu Jitsu was established in 2016 under the name Devine Jiu Jitsu Charleston. Services
In order to maximize the safety of our students, we will maintain increased sanitation efforts, and all classes will take place with the fans on and doors open for better ventilation. Clean gis and personal hygiene are mandatory. All surfaces will be disinfected before and after class. We ask that students train at their own risk and use their judgement.
It is well known that building jiu jitsu proficiency is a long road. Even though techniques can be acquired relatively quickly, learning how to apply them on a fully resisting opponent takes longer to achieve. As such, students often encounter specific problems that require targeted focus from an experienced instructor.
We have students of all ages, shapes and sizes, from couch potatoes to seasoned athletes. No experience is necessary. Our goal is to provide a safe and fun environment where everyone can learn. We encourage everyone to give the gentle art a try - the first week is free, no strings attached! Whether you are new to jiu-jitsu or to martial arts all together, we will accommodate you.

Recently started training here after a long hiatus and what a great place to train. Top notch instruction, very clean school and everyone I have met so far has been really welcoming! There are many good schools out in Charleston, but I’m glad I chose to train here. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking to train!

One of the best Jiu-Jitsu schools in the Charleston Area! Mike is an amazing instructor, accomplished competitor and you can tell his love for the art is why he opened this school! I have no background in martial arts training. I dropped by for a class which was run very professionally. The mobility warm up was great and I felt safe throughout the entire class. As a woman, I wasn’t sure what to expect from jiu jitsu. While I ultimately decided it wasn’t for me (yoga is more my speed), if I were going to continue training, I would definitely train at Devine Jiu Jitsu Charleston. The entire crew there does a good job of fostering a safe and welcoming environment for beginners.

I have trained all over the country and several times in Brazil. So, I am well-positioned to say that the collective wealth of knowledge of the black belts at Devine Jiu Jitsu Charleston is truly unique. It's rare to have the chance to train with so many instructors with 10-20 years of experience (each with a different style and approach to the "gentle art"). It's also rare to find a school with such a laid back attitude where egos are kept in check and students are kept safe--which makes DJJ Charleston a great place for beginners as well as advanced students.
