Sid's Auto Repair opened their doors in 2003. That's when auto mechanic and owner, Sid Vannoy, decided to devote his 30+ years of repair experience to serving the Bay View area. After several years of working for the "big guys", such as Volvo, Goodyear, Chevy, Meineke (to name a few), Sid realized the repair processes at these companies didn't align with his ethics and professional workflow.
I met Sid when I lived in the area and my fan belt was making a weird noise. Sid fixed it in 10 mins and only charged me $20. Every vehicle I have had that I can't repair myself has always gone to him. He estimated a brake job on my husband's truck for only one side, and never charged a cent for the other.

I took my car into Sids after a dealer gave me an expensive, bizzare diagnosis. Sid and Chris found the actual problem, were very communicative about it and explained it well, and it only ended up costing me a fraction of what the dealership was going to charge me. Highly recommend, and thanks guys!

All the humans at Sid's are hands down some of the best people I have ever met. They are honest, they have integrity, they are no BS with what needs to be done vs what can wait, they don't try to squeeze every last penny out of you and are genuine. As a woman with a background as Diesel Mechanic for the Army I know about mechanics and often times find it to be entertaining when male mechanics try to pull a fast one or tell me something incorrect, the guys at Sid's have never done that and it is very refreshing. Definitely recommend them!!

I'm torn, the employees at Sid's are friendly, knowledgeable, and get their work done promptly. In my case, they unfortunately did more work than I (explicitly) asked for, and charged me accordingly.
After requesting a front end alignment, I paid double what I paid at a competitor's shop in the past. They also replaced parts without asking, which is frustrating because I already had purchased the the replacement parts to do the work myself...I even had the parts IN THE CAR!
Again, the employees at Sid's seem like great people people who do quality work, but I can't help but come away from this

I have gone to Sids for my issues many times and everything they have done, I never had the problem again. I've been having an issue with a tire that I purchased at another location and with the lock down I didn't know if auto shops were open. I called the original place I bought the tire and they were closed until further notice so, I called Sids to see if they were open. It was Saturday and they are not open but it thought maybe a prerecorded message would tell me if they are or not. Well, Adam answered, I told him my situation and he said they were open Monday. I highly recommend Sid's! I took my Toyota to the dealership in West Allis for a routine oil change only to get a call with a list of about 7 things wrong totaling over $1,000!!! My car had been running fine so I took it to Sid's for a second opinion and they told me I did not need any of that stuff done! Also I live nearby and see the employees working late into the night. I will ALWAYS recommend Sid's- a truly HONEST and quality mechanic shop!

Sid's really did right by me. I had an odd job and every other place was quoting me three times as much as they did. I knew what the job is worth and Sid's really came through for me. I am so thankful for the honesty and the reliability that Sid's showed. Sid's will be my go-to place for all my vehicle repairs from here on out.

About a month ago I passed through Milwaukee on my way to Chicago and I can truly say that they have some Great People working there, I had just bought a ford focus and was having some vibrations at high speed and when breaking, since I was in a hurry they scheduled me for that same afternoon and did their best to help...and they did, they also gave me some general pointers about things I should be aware of, they balanced my tires and checked the breaks and set me on my way. Charges were minimum, $40 if I'm not mistaken.

Had some issues with my Honda 2002 making a crappy sound which even an auto ignoramus like me knew wasn't right. Went to Ramsey's Auto and got quoted a ridiculous amount for fixing my car. I knew I smelled a rat and decided to look for advise for another repair service. I went to Sid's and after spending some time checking EVERYTHING in my car, it turned out that the culprit for the noise was one thingamajig rubbing against another thingamajig, and stuff. The man (I believe his name was Dan, I thought his name would be Sid) did something, and the noise went away! He also did an oil

These guys are better than great. I'm a car guy...a lazy one now. No way am I going to tackle a timing belt on a FWD Honda or suspension on a AWD Ford. They told me what the issues were, what the cost was. Which ended up being cheaper than quoted. No up selling or normal mechanic BS. I tell everyone to take their car there.

I was so glad that my friends told me about Sid's...I was going to another guy for years, but then he retired...any one who has an old car knows how one starts to panic at the idea of finding someone you trust again...well Sid's was worth the wait...they always do a good job, charge me less then other places, and even do some things for free (shhh...). They are always friendly and helpful...

I'm so disappointed about my recent experiences at Sid's. With all the great Yelp reviews and the unbeatable location (just blocks from my home), I really hoped I had found a reliable, honest mechanic. Not the case.
I've taken my car to Sid's three times in the past few months and I waited to write this review hoping that things would be different the next time, but I've had three negative experiences.

I have been taking our old Ford Focus to Sid's for several years now and have had great experiences.
They are very accomodating in making a booking for any sort of auto repair and their quotes are always spot on.
Pretty quick turn-around times, coupled with good pricing makes for an easy auto repair experience in my book.
I'm a big fan of these guys and recommend them to all.
PS - now they have a pretty friendly bird in the front office area too (of the feathered variety!)

Parts of my car are held together with duct tape, mind you it is strong duct tape...that metallic foil stuff. When I take my car to Sid for a repair they never try to hard sell me for things that don't need to be done to it. They just make sure the car works and understand that I don't need it to look good, just to perform well.
They make sure it's safe and it runs, they aren't trying to sell me some flush or other procedure that is entirely unnecessary.
I have never felt that the cost has been out of line and they complete the work when they say they will.
