The Sturgeon family believes in hard work and treating client's the way we would want to be treated. We strive to go the extra mile and always make the extra effort for our clients. These are all the things that have permitted a family business to prosper in an extremely competitive market place that is drastically changing.

Our team consists of the Sturgeon family members; Colan, Mark, Toni, Josh, and Tylar. We are also very lucky to have one of the best Optomologist in town, Eric Crowder O.D. In addition, we have a very friendly receptionist, Annette Adams, and Optician, Heather Rhodes. The Sturgeon family has deep roots in the Barboursville area and a strong commitment to the Village and surrounding Tri-state community.

The Sturgeon family believes in hard work and treating their customers as GOD has asked people to do, treat others as we would have others treat us. Going the extra mile, making the extra effort. These are all the things that have permitted a family business to prosper in an extremely competitive market place is drastically changing times.
Sturgeon's Optical provides the highest quality, compassionate eye care to ensure you and your family is healthy and happy. He was a kind and thoughtful mentor, father and employer having started or aided many people in the optical industry over his almost 70 years in the business, among them were his wife 1934-2007, and his three children, Colan, Mark, and Toni.
Optometrists examine the eyes for visual defects, diagnose problems or impairments, and prescribe corrective lenses. Eye examinations are very important to your overall health, no matter what your age is.

Having been in the Optical business since 1967 we rely on prescriptions by Optometrist and Ophthalmologists from all over the Tri-State area, in point of fact 75% of our customers come into our office with prescriptions written by Doctors outside our office. Our name has become synonymous with quality, accuracy and professional prescription evaluations and filling.
Sturgeon's Optical was founded in1967 by Gerald Sturgeon in the beautiful village of Barboursville. Before we put the spotlight on the business or the Sturgeon family, let's take a closer look at the small West Virginia community of it's founding in and where it is still located today. The historic town of Barboursville.
We offer a wide range of payment options to meet our client needs and ensure we can provide the best service you deserve. Perhaps nothing is more confusing than insurance, in general, and more specifically in eye care. Let's talk basics- First, let's talk ADMINISTRATORS.

An insurance administrator is a separate entity that agrees to handle the coding, pricing, and paying off claims for vision coverage, and in agreement with a medical insurance provider.

Truly a family run business that takes care of you like family. I locked my keys in my car and Mr Sturgeon insisted on staying with me until a tow service could unlock my car... 2 hours after closing. Thank you so much

Love the service. There is something to be said about a company that greets you by name when you walk in. They have always been friendly and attentive. They spend time with their customers and never rush them. I’ve been to a lot of optical stores in my life and by far this one stands out far above all others. I also love that it’s family run.

My husband and I chose Sturgeons after researching local places and seeing so many positive high reviews for this place. We have been here twice and the eye doctor is nice albeit quite long winded and slow. However the office staff is very incompetent in the billing department. Staff charged our bank directly instead of billing the insurance as the policy states. This caused our bank to overdraft and I am sad to say that this issue is being handled very rudely with poor customer service by two of the current office girls. I’ve been on the phone with them three times now and they claim they cannot

I have been coming here to get my glasses for at least 10 years. I have to get my glasses here because this is the only place in the area where I can get cross-polarized lenses (for my photosensitive epilepsy). My dad is pretty good friends with the owners, and we've never had any issues here.

Has a great experience. Everyone was very nice. The Doctor talked to me a long time, like he cared about his patients.

Way better than Bailey! They’re very friendly and didn’t try to sell me their products. Gave me my prescription and that was it. Obviously they can sell me contacts as well but there was no pressure. Also they were cheaper than Bailey. Definitely go here!

This place comes so highly recommended, I was shocked by my experience. I would not recommend Sturgeon's to anyone. I went in for a basic eye checkup and to order a pair of blue cross-polarized sunglasses (I have epilepsy and these can help stop seizures. Sturgeon's is the only place in the area that sells them). During my eye checkup, the optometrist behaved really bizarrely, like he was high and asked out-of-place questions, but otherwise did an okay job. I went to order my glasses and was told they were no longer available in blue, so I picked forest green. I waited a couple of weeks and went
