We rented a property, managed by this woebegone wreck, a year and a half ago. He deducted not one, not two, but three months worth of rent at one juncture in our 2.5 years' tenancy. When I called to alert him to the error, what a fusillade of rudeness I got, based on his erroneous withdrawals from our bank account. I then called one of his former (among many, apparently) employees to ask if there was something "off" about this guy. A hard yes. Mark Heizer is a real class act (sarcasm intended). He is very rude and unprofessional. I've had 2 phone conversations with him regarding maintenance issues. He does not let you speak without cutting you off. I called to get an update about my maintenance request where I have water running out of my dishwasher onto my kitchen floor. I could not get a word in edgewise. And he hung up on me when I tried to ask questions. You can best believe that this tenant will be relocating. I refuse to continue paying my hard earned money to support him or his business.

Wow. Just wow. What started out as a simple business relationship evolved into something more... I'd like to start this review off with a little proverb, a turtle has yet to be a tortoise until he dons his age and wisdom. H-Co. properties is not even a turtle with their over abundance of youthfulness and complete lack of wisdom. They are yet to become the rock lobsters that evolved into the earliest turtles.

AVOID DOING BUSINESS WITH MARK HEIZER AT ALL COSTS
Called Mark this morning to inquire about seeing a property. Barely got my initial introduction out before he interrupted me and monologued in a condescending tone about how he didn't have time to answer any of my questions, that I needed to go through a website to contact him, and that it would likely take 4-5 business days before he responded to whatever request I submitted online. Rented us a 2 bedroom home on Brooks St in Chapel Hill as a 3 bedroom, I thought the "3rd" bedroom had two closets. One of the "closets" was actually where the water heater was stored, which is extremely unsafe and illegal (they shouldn't be in a bedroom because they can leak gas). The guy from the gas company wouldn't even light the pilot for us to have hot water once he realized it was in a bedroom. We contacted our agent, Colin Moody, who addressed the problem promptly, by having some random guy show up and light the pilot.... very illegally mind you. Any issue

The guy Mark Heizer who works here is rude and inconsiderate and just started talking down on me. I was inquiring about renting a place remotely because I did not want to spend extra money and time away from work finding a place. Some companies have offered virtual tours and with google street view and online info it has become easier to rent remotely. Many people settle for crappy apartments and I rather live in a house. Anyhow, he starts mouthing off to me and talking down on me saying how I have all types of flags that I am a lease breaker and don't want to look at places in person.

Everything was great until I had to interact with Mark. I can't believe someone can be so rude and act so much more important than they are while being so condescending. I would avoid the entire company based off of my interactions with him as sad as that is to say. Everything had been great right until that point.

Spent the last 4 years at an H-Co property with Collin Moody as my property manager. Best rental experience I have had. Collin met up with us multiple times without complaint to assist us when we locked ourselves out of our house and was always pleasant and accommodating to our needs. Maintenance process is simple and efficient when a property issue does arise, but we only had 2 in four years and both were handled quickly. Thanks again!

I could not recommend a more professional, punctual and polite property manager than Mr. Colin Moody. I have rented a house in Durham for the last 4 years through HCO Properties, and Mr. Moody is by far my favorite landlord out of the 3 I have dealt with over the last 7 years. One prime example I can recall as a testament to his reliability and… responsiveness occurred last September while I was studying for a very important exam. One of the fuses randomly blew in the breaker box, and I immediately called Colin the moment I lost power, stressing how time sensitive the issue was as my exam

I had them manage my townhouse for over 7 years. They did not do a good job looking after the property. They stopped working for me and didn't even give me a 60 day notice and left me in a limbo. When I started to manage the property myself, I could not believe what a mess they left behind. It looked like they never cared enough to do a thorough move out inspection with each tenant and that tenants left the townhouse in a mess! Very excellent experience with H co. properties. We have been with them for 7 years and they have found perfect tenants for our house, and have maintained the property well. Is anybody else having problems with paying online? Unfortunately, I had a returned check last month following a serious medical problem (stroke), which I promptly took care of, but they will not allow credit card and debit card payments for 6 months, which means that I have to drive to Chapel Hill each month to make payments with cashier's check or money order.

I have been a tenant for four years and during this time did not ask for much. Only the basic upkeep. I live in a duplex with wonderful neighbors. But my problem is with this Mark Heizer who seems to be running things and is very arrogant and difficult to deal with. I am a cancer patient and am struggling with my disease and do not care of stress.… But this Heizer fellow is relentless in giving me grief for little things and is combative. My ac is ineffective and does not cool the home. It is showing 82 degrees at all times though I set it at 73 degrees. But my request has fallen on deaf

Mark Heizer has been my property manager since 2014. He's very reasonable and level-headed about finding tenants, a situation that can be stressful for owners. It makes me feel good knowing that my tenant has a management service that will be prompt and professional - we are able to approve and move forward on repairs as soon as we hear from the tenant. I'm really pleased with Mark's business and am glad to work with him.

I have submitted five work orders for my apartment over the past couple years. I only got a response to one of them, so I suppose I should thank HCO for the development of my skills as a handyman. The others are still posted on their website waiting for review. For almost three months I have hounded this company about getting my dishwasher fixed. I finally got in contact with the plumbing company they work with myself today and was able to get a date set instantly! Unbelievable! I have bothered the company daily.
