Services
Northland Cares is a 501c3 non-profit organization specifically founded to meet the specialized needs of people living with HIV/AIDS in northern Arizona. The federal government estimates that from between 1,200 and 1,400 individuals residing in this vast geographic, culturally diverse area are infected with HIV; however, only 10% of those people are currently enrolled in services.
Northland Cares has offered care for HIV/AIDS clients since 2002 in Prescott, Arizona. Northland Cares (NC) is a small nonprofit 501c3 community-based AIDS Service Organization (ASO), with a history of providing services to, and advocating on behalf of those infected with HIV and AIDS. NC was born out of a combining of two organizations, Yavapai HIV/AIDS Action and AIDS Outreach of Northern Arizona.
We would like to invite our clients, supporters, sponsors and allies for an evening of music, food, and fun. We remember those we have lost, and we stand side by side with all those individuals and families who struggle to live full lives despite the virus. We honor those who have spent their lives struggling against the virus and those dedicated to helping.
The only way to know for sure whether you have HIV is to get tested. CDC recommends that everyone between the age of 13 and 64 get tested at least once as part of routine health care. Knowing your HIV status gives you powerful information to help you take steps to keep you and your partner(s) healthy.
If you are seeking information about Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP), which is a medication provided on an emergency basis to prevent HIV after exposure, you need to take the medication as soon as possible within 72 hours of exposure. Please contact your primary care provider immediately. If you do not have a primary care provider, seek immediate care at an Emergency Room.
