Located in Roanoke, Virginia, Community High is a private, secular, college preparatory high school grounded in the liberal arts. We were founded by a group of parents, many of them college professors, looking for a more innovative and responsive high school environment for their own children. It is small by design, with classes that work in an intimate, seminar-based format.

Our faculty includes working artists accomplished in their fields and scholars with advanced degrees. Community High is a school that thoroughly prepares students for a complete liberal arts education and a fulfilling adulthood. Ant Club opened a restaurant with a variety of courses and hey observed the ants to see which foods they preferred.

Charitable giving is vital to the success of any private education system. 100% participation from our families and board of trustees enables us to qualify for grants and other opportunities that would otherwise not be available. We currently accept donations in three different categories. Your fully tax deductible donation can be made securely online, or checks can be made out to Community High School, and mailed to the school.
We are an independent school with an independent curriculum. Our coursework is designed according to traditional liberal arts principles that emphasize critical thinking-reading, mathematics, writing, making, listening and speaking-over rote memorization. Our teachers are accomplished professionals who choose to work in a school where they have authorship of their own courses.
