Services
Decatur House is a 38-apartment assisted living community located at 176 Main Street in historic Sandwich Village on Cape Cod. We are within walking distance of several attractions including the renowned Dan'l Webster Inn, Sandwich Public Library, two churches, a newsstand, coffee shops, museums, gift shops and art galleries.
Decatur House represents the goals and dreams of Linda and Steve Austin to build and manage an assisted living residence on the Upper Cape. They didn't build just an ordinary assisted living community more than 20 years ago, but they built one that offers residents a beautiful and intimate setting where their individual needs are met.
Our assisted living services are provided by an extraordinary team of professionals. Our experienced and trained staff radiates comfort, trust and love, especially on those days when age brings challenges and difficulty. The rhythm of our days at Decatur House are as unique as the wants and needs of our residents.
At Decatur House we believe sharing resources, experiences, and opportunities is key to the quality of life for our residents and staff. We are always looking for ways to partner with local organizations and businesses who share a passion to serve and strive to add value to the community.

The following community partnerships help ensure Decatur House remains engaged and responsive not only to our residents and staff, but to our broader community as well.Riverview School in Sandwich provides a caring community for adolescents and young adults with complex language, learning and cognitive disabilities.
Since we are small, we can tailor our activities to the needs and interests of our residents. In addition to daily exercise and late afternoon trivia, we offer book club, word games, art classes with local artists, live entertainment and outings to local attractions and shops. And if a group of residents wants to do chair yoga, play Name that Tune, form a walking group, or do some gardening, we make that happen.

My mother has been a resident at Decatur House for almost two years. Our family is so grateful for the kind care she has received. The Covid virus has changed the way we visit but the staff continue to be responsive to both my Mother’s and the family needs. We feel blessed to have found this wonderful home for our Mum.

The positive change in my Mother since she has been at Decatur House has been so wonderful. Before coming, she wasn't eating and was depressed. She is now eating three delicious meals a day, engaging in all of the activities, and has a positive outlook on life. The staff has been kind and caring, and Linda the owner checks to make sure she is happy each day. Decatur was the miracle my Mom needed in her later years.

My mother lived at Decatur House for eight years. She moved there from New York to be closer to family, and was immediately welcomed into the community. Decatur House quickly became "home" for her -- we were all so grateful to see her adjusting to assisted living, and making new friends, much faster than we thought she would. Linda, Steve, and all of the staff at Decatur House got to know her so well; they saw the "whole" person, not just the symptoms of aging. Because of them, I didn't have to worry; I could be a daughter, rather than a caretaker.

My mother was a resident for almost 2 years. She absolutely loved Decatur House, the lovely grounds and the setting in Sandwich village. The management by owner Linda Austin was superlative as were the employees. Each individual receives loving care in a homelike environment. I highly recommend this assisted-living facility
