At Sunshower Farms, we're committed to creativity and quality at every step of the coffee process. We believe in third-wave coffee principles, from sustainable farming techniques to innovative processing and roasting methods. The growing season is year-round, with harvest spanning from mid-August through April.
The first part of the visit is an orchard tour where you will learn about the entire coffee farming process including seasonality, growth patterns, ripening, harvesting, pruning, orchard maintenance and pests. You will also taste coffee cherry (the fruit part) straight from the tree before it is processed and roasted.
Married couple from Chicago, proud dog parents, beer aficionados and the owners of Sunshower Farms. We started Sunshower to serve people who care about where their coffee comes from and who truly want to know their farmer. In our previous lives, I (Kate) was a lawyer and Doug was a proprietary futures trader in Chicago.

Great and informative visit. We learned a lot and had a great time at the tasting. Dona was a great guide at the farm and for our cupping session. Tour doesn't go too far into the orchard, but that was just the right speed for our group. Also loved feeding the goats at the end. Most importantly, they have great coffee. Would recommend!

My husband and I hired Kate to plan our Kona wedding, after having to cancel our first wedding in New Zealand. After postponing twice and we decided to ultimately hold the wedding in October 2021. Kate was there to support us every step of the way, helping us with securing all the best vendors and handling the communication with them. Spending time at this farm is such a privilege. I can't recommend it enough if you are looking for Kona coffee to buy or a farm to visit for a tasting or tour. The farm is located right in the world famous Kona Coffee Belt and the ocean views are unreal! The Hickeys, who own the place, have really made it something special. Also, if you need an event planned on the Big Island, look no further than Kate Hickey of Sunshower Farms. She is a master wedding and event coordinator and you will not regret working with her.

Had a coffee tour and tasting and to be completely honest, was left searching for more. More depth. More finesse. I understand it's a working farm, but the grounds weren't kept for "tours". While I appreciated being taken out to see the trees, we didn't get to tour them or the grounds. We sat by a tree while facts were given to us, then back to the house for tasting. I would have liked to have seen how the beans get roasted, and explanation of their roasting process as well as what else they do on their farm. The tasting/"cupping" was a great experience which upped my initial 3 stars to 4. We purchased

Sunshower Farms was great for our wedding. Everything went off without a hitch and we couldn't have dreamt of a better venue for our wedding! Kate was so helpful. She crafted the perfect decorations, coordinated all of our vendors, and planned a seamless event for our friends and family. All of our guests had a great time and talk up our wedding all the time. Our recently engaged friends have said they want to have a destination wedding after seeing the photos from our wedding.
Kate was also transparent about the pricing and our friends were amazed when we told them how much our wedding cost.

My wife Suzie and I were married at Sunshower Farms last fall and had the wedding of our dreams! Our friends and family that attended still tell us all the time how great of a wedding it was, how beautiful the venue was and how great of a job the staff did to make it a great evening for all of us.

So glad we did this tour! After a fun drive up the mountain, Kate showed us around her amazing farm taking us from the plant to what ends up in your cup. We learned so much about coffee and farm life! While other farms may offer free tours, I think the 20 bucks you spend here was more than worth it for the intimate small group and coffee tasting after!
