C & R Forest Products
We primarily distribute our products into Northern Nevada, and the Northern and Central parts of California. We ship to Washington, Oregon, and the Southern parts of Nevada and California less frequently, but we can ship less-than-load (LTL) and full truckload orders to all 48 of the Contiguous United States.

C&R Forest Products is a wholesale distributor of roundwood and associated wood products. We sell our products to the retail market for RESALE only and do not bypass them to sell directly to contractors or the end-users. Since 2003 our goal has been to satisfy specific niches in that market such as agricultural posts, utility poles, split cedar and doweled post-and-rail fencing.
Services
We have a large peeled and doweled post inventory, treated and untreated. They arrive fresh from the mill and are air-dried to bring down the moisture content to optimize the penetration and retention of chemical treatment. The Lodgepole Pine tree is known for its long, slender trunk and high, thin crown.
Our Peeled Posts are primarily milled out of Lodgepole Pine logs. They are run through a machine that peels off the bark, the cambium layer, and leaves the sapwood layer on the outside of the pole. The post keeps much of the natural taper of the tree. The diameter of the tip (small end) is a minimum size.
Our doweled post & rail fencing is largely produced out of Pine and Fir logs. These logs are the tops of trees from large timber operations; tops considered too small to produce lumber. They are run through the dowel machine [see video] to produce posts & rails that are uniform in diameter from tip to butt and as such have a nicer, smoother appearance than the peeled posts.
Our pole inventory consists primarily of PG&E Approved Utility poles. When we get into poles with a diameter greater than 7 we do not find standard sizing. So we supply these according to your unique specifications. Most of our roundwood is only doweled up to a diameter of 7. Anything larger in diameter often goes on a lathe.
When we get into poles with a uniform diameter greater than 7 we do not find as many agricultural uses. So not all roundwood dowel machines are equipped for larger diameters and not all roundwood mills build a log deck to manufacture large uniform diameter posts/poles. More often these large uniform diameter poles are for appearance and come with the customer's unique specifications so they often get put on a lathe.
