Texas Agricultural Education & HRTG
The Texas Agricultural Education and Heritage Center, more commonly known as The Big Red Barn was founded to educate the public, especially young people, about agriculture and our heritage. The Center has displays and events to help create the farming and ranching experience. The Center is located on a working farm in Guadalupe County on land that has been farmed since the 1850's.

The land has been donated by Wilfred and Betty Bartoskewitz who are fifth generation farmers. Thousands of people of all ages come to visit, learn, reminisce, explore and relive the heritage and culture which founded the strength of America today. Programs and displays have been developed to give visitors information and experiences in rural agricultural life as it existed and as it exists today.
Services
The mission of the Texas Agricultural Education & Heritage Center is to educate the public, especially young people, about the importance of agriculture in our society and to promote the heritage of farming and ranching. Have large numbers of school students and young people to visit the Center, learn about agriculture and the value it has brought to our country.
Young people and others who have grown up in the last several decades know little about farming and ranching. The Texas Agricultural Education and Heritage Center was founded to educate the public, especially young people, about agriculture and our heritage. The Center has displays and events to help create the farming and ranching experience.
The purpose of the Pecan Museum of Texas is to promote the pecan industry, educate the public, and honor those individuals and organizations both past and present, that have influenced the establishment of the pecan industry. The museum will enable us to share the pride of one of Guadalupe County's richest resources - the Pecan.
Three weeks in the fall, 4th Graders from Public and Private schools in Guadalupe County and the surrounding Counties come to the Big Red Barn and are taught by real farmers and ranchers about all types of agriculture, along with farm safety, view demonstrations and participate in hands-on activities.
The Texas Agricultural Education and Heritage Center is the passion and product of many wonderful people who understand its mission and are more than willing to donate their valuable time, their many talents and their treasures to keep it alive for those in future generations.

On behalf of the numerous children and adults who derive such pleasure from their visits to the Ag Center, and the many communities that are directly served by it, we wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of you who make this the wonderful place it has become. We invite you to review our 2017 Newsletter.

Great place for family. Whether just looking at the animals, the little old city, or having an event here. This trip was for steak or fish plate to benefit FD.

The Big Red Barn is an excellent hands-on museum and extension service. The monthly Friday Feast and seasonal festivities are wholesome and educational events that bring our community together in a positive way.

The Big Red Barn was an interesting place to visit. Although it was closed, we were able to walk back there and view the different buildings on site such as a 1920s school house, a church and a few other buildings. All were situated close proximity to each other. You also have to go and see the oldest and largest pecan on display outside.

Very nice facility, can accommodate various sized get togethers. Has a large second room to expand into if needed. On a state highway and 2-3 miles from the interstate (I-10).

Enjoyed the historic buildings and tractor competition that was going on. The animal petting area isn't running but you can walk around and view. May be due to covid.

Very nice facility only problem is the parking the building is meant to hold about 300 people but there is only two handicap parking spaces if you're more than two handicapped parkers you need to park way out in the gravel and roll a walk away through the gravel

We got married at this beautiful, historic site. The chapel was absolutely perfect, especially for our small, intimate ceremony. The staff was so accommodating ahead of time making sure if we needed access to the venue for anything (decor ideas, photos, etc) that we had it. Our wedding day was like a fairytale! The barn was nice & large & perfect for everyone to spread out, dance, & celebrate. We had yard games outside which were a bit as well. Everyone was amazed with how beautiful everything was & we enjoyed ourselves soooo much. I can't wait to someday bring our future children back to see where

Our kiddos school took our 2nd graders here for a field trip. I am happy to say that this was one of my favorite Field trips my kids have been on. I have a 22 yr old and a 14 yr old, so I have been on many trips! The staff a here are informative, friendly and really know how to reach the kids. All the kids were alert and so excited at every station. We picked carrots, learned how families lived and worked the land back in the day, taught first hand what happens at a chicken farm, experienced what students went through in a school environment and heard wonderul stories that captivated both the children
