Services
Dr. Ian Thompson established Springfield Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Institute in 2005 shortly after completing his sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship in Taos, New Mexico. Dr. Thompson is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS).
Amie has been a physician assistant since 1998 and has practiced in the areas of general surgery, family practice, emergency medicine, and obstetrics/gynecology in the Troy and Piqua, Ohio areas. Amie received her bachelor of health science from the University of Kentucky's College of Allied Health physician assistant program as well as a bachelor of science from the University of Kentucky College of Biological Sciences.
Janel has been a Physician Assistant since 2016 and before joining SOSMI, worked in Neurosurgery at Miami Valley Hospital. She received her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) from Ohio Dominican University, and her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Cincinnati.

I wouldn't refer him to anyone. I had an Achilles injury in early May and it was painful at first but felt better after a couple of weeks. I'm in a walking boot and I had asked for a script for a temp handicapped placard (4 weeks) due to my heel absolutely killing me while I walked and having a couple of events I had scheduled in which I couldn't miss. Keep in mind, I asked for this 3 weeks after the initial injury. He said it wasn't a necessity but he was sure quick to write me a script of some addictive pain pills, which I didn't take when I went in for my visit. I felt super rushed my first

Asked for an appointment with a particular doctor because he was in network. Was brought back to see the physician's assistant before being briefly seen by the Dr. I had requested. Had no issue with the medical staff however I was billed under the PA who was out of network and therefore I would have to pay for the visit out of pocket. I was never told I would be seeing the Physician's assistant. The billing person never answered any of the 8 times I attempted to call her and took at least a half day to attempt to return a call (which I was unable to answer) and did not give any other way/better
