Godwin Insurance Agency is a family-owned and operated independent agency, and has been since 1953, when brothers Grover Godwin and Louis Godwin originally established the agency. Shirley Ray, who the brothers had hired in 1970 to be a policy typist, became part-owner upon Grover's retirement in 1986, and then sole owner when Louis retired just four years later.

I’ve been using Godwin for a couple of years for my personal needs. Nickie, Karol and the team have been awesome to work with and were able to save me money. I recently needed new business coverage and have been working the Teresa. She took the time to review all needs, potential risks and provided a cost effective plan. Godwin puts forth extra effort to to understand my business and communicate clearly with the carriers and provide unbiased recommendations, even if it is stay where you are. I called Godwin when my workers comp policy was being reevaluated. I'm a fairly detailed person and found Teresa was even more so. In fact she took the initiative to question my rating category directly with the state. The state's first response was incorrect at a 10 times higher premium. Godwin knew enough about my business to explain it further, find the legal categories, and get agreement from the state that the lower classification

After many years working with one of the big franchise insurance companies and getting very little in the way of personal attention, we decided to trade in our policy number and take back our name. And we're so glad we did!
First off, Karol (our representative at Godwin) did a comprehensive review of our coverages and reviewed it with us item by item. This is something we were told came with our service but I now believe it was probably an algorithm and not a professional looking after us. Karol discovered gaps in our coverage that could have crippled us had certain unfortunate events occurred
