Services
The Moab Veterinary Clinic, located in the Spanish Valley area of the beautiful Moab, Utah area was established in 1984. Clinic work was first completed in the garage of Dr. Sorensen's own home. Later when the means were there he added on to the clinic until it has become the building it is today. Our doctors strive to keep costs down at the same time as trying to provide you and your pets the best care available.
Dr. Sorensen graduated from Colorado State University in 1983. After working in Arizona for a year he came to Moab and opened the Moab Veterinary Clinic, which has now been serving Southeastern Utah and parts of Southwestern Colorado over 30 years. Dr Sorensen loves working with animals, both small and big, and the people who belong to them.

The clinic in Monticello fills up fairly quickly so call us as soon as you know you would like to be seen so we can make sure we get you in.
At the Moab Veterinary Clinic, we treat approximately 24 parvo cases every year and while that may not sound like very many this means just under half of the cases we test for parvo are positive. Of those that test positive, 35% do not survive despite hospitalized care. So just what is parvo and why is it such a big deal?

My little doggy Carma was in serious trouble with a very large bladder stone. Local vet in AZ gave me meds and said see you in 40 days, and another local vet said it was urgent yet couldn't get me in their schedule, didn't even bump the teeth cleanings in their schedule for this, plus was quoted $3300 for a.mobile vet to do it, which took 5 days to get that quote!. And took 3 days to forward the X-rays to me.
Moab Veterinary Clinic was 100% different. They spoke with me over phone in detail and took the time to research if the special dog food would dissolve it. All on a phone call. Gave me a

While vacationing in Moab, Utah, my Black Shepard developed an ear infection. I called Moab Veterinary Clinic and was able to get in right away. Both the office staff and the treating veterinarian were professional and courteous. My dog was able to be examined and treated in a timely and efficient manner. I wish I could award 5 MILLION stars. Dr. Johnson and Juliette rushed to meet us at the clinic on a SUNDAY. Our rescue baby has NEVER been sick before, let alone need to be seen for an emergency. He is an extremely anxious dog and both ladies pulled out all stops to make both him and us comfortable. Dr. Johnson was able to diagnose Bob within the first 5 minutes of seeing him which was such a huge relief. They were able to treat Bob in under an hour but we wanted to stick around Moab for a few hours to make sure he was on the up and up. We parked our trailer down the block to let him rest for a

We were driving from Anchorage, AK to Michigan when, in visiting family in Moab, our dog fell ill. We called the ER number and Dr. Alexis Johnson and a caring vet tech (i forgot your name, sorry!) met us. They quickly assessed our dog (he'd been eating Utah grass - not something is AK stomach was familiar with!) and treated him. They were so friendly and caring. Certainly a calming force for us being so far away from home. Our dog was feeling better within hours and we were able to continue our journey. Thank you so much!!

We were visiting Moab in April 2021 and day boarded our dog. I should have known it was not a good situation when I learned there was no one at the clinic on Saturdays from noon to 4, when you pick up your dog. When we picked up our dog his foot was bloody from jumping up and catching it on the top of the gate in his enclosure. No one at the clinic noticed anything but we saw right away he was injured when we got him in the car.The vet was called in and had to close the wound with staples. I would not recommend boarding on weekends. If something happens to your pet there is no one around to help

Needed a place to leave my good buddy on short notice. We were told by a competitor that the dogs were left on hot cement in a shelter. I thought I would check for myself and found that to be completely false. The dogs and cats are kept indoors in air conditioned quarters. They are let out two to three times daily and allowed to play with other guests. If your dog is skittish or a bit tough on the social scale, they can have a separate run and are interacted with separately. The cost was $18 whether it's just for day care or an overnight. The staff was friendly and attentive to my needs. I

I had to find a place to board my doggy while I was in Moab. I was happy to bring him with me for the ride from Nevada, but the camp I was staying at with my group didn't allow dogs. The staff here were very friendly and I was very happy to see my doggy got outside playtime with other pups.. It was the first time I boarded my doggy, but I felt he was safe and in a loving environment.

Although Dr. Sorensen has been useful in the past, my most recent experience with Dr. Mikelsen was highly subpar, and I will never return to this vet.
My dog developed a cough and started to cough up blood, so I took her in. When I arrived, no one greeted or acknowledged me until I told them who I was and why I was there. The waiting area and exam room was dirty and smelled foul. After waiting for 30 minutes, I was seen by Dr. Mikelsen. The first thing that happened was paperwork was handed to her and she scowled and rolled her eyes and told this person to find the right paperwork. It was
