I think they have a lot of one star, I wanted to rent a book, they said they closed, this is the first time I see such a non-professional worker. On-line shows openly.

It was quite disgusting for me. The motel is in the middle of nowhere. Moriarty is a small town and there are very few restaurants and stores. I would recommend to stay at Albuquerque or some other town. The room was spacious but furniture was old and linens were not as clean as you would like. The toiletries were not enough for 4 people that we booked for.We booked a stay with free breakfast, which was a trap, they have given 2 cup cake brownies in name of breakfast.

Friendly and inviting. Rooms could use some serious updating but it was surprisingly cleaner then some other what you might call better hotels. Carpet was beat but everything worked in the room and the beds were very clean. There was no smell which was great. The chain lock on door wont do much and the bathroom window had no lock so we stuck a hanger on the track to prevent window from being opened. House keeping attempted to enter while I was in the shower. All that being said it's still worth the stay. We paid $112 for a double queen room which seemed a little high for the quality of this motel

In the chilly night, we checked in. Taking precautions and wearing a mask, the gentleman and owner cracked open the door a smidge to ask for partial information from me. After the whole process was completed, he kindly handed me a sack containing an apple and muffin telling me that breakfast would consist of fresh baked goods. I was already pleased with his greeting and kindly manners. A little goodie bag was also a kind gesture. Using an actual key to open the room, opening the door to a room not stinking of smoke was a real breath of fresh air. Original foundation and walls held together a room

This is the perfect little motel. I loved everything about it! It was clean, comfortable, pet friendly, big parking lot we could park our 40' trailer in, cute outside decorations, nice little area for pets to use the bathroom, the muffins they were serving for breakfast were delicious, I really can't think of one negative thing to say about this place.

Super cool spot, I go on a road trip every year, and this year decided to take 66 home. This is the first stop I made and it is awesome. Extremely clean, authentic, well maintained, and an awesome story! Apparently it has been owned and operated by the same family since new. It is incredible that after all these years they still have the original furniture made by a company in Albuquerque. If you are looking for clean, friendly, original 66… look no further!

Most "retro" hotels use the term as an excuse for being run-down and nasty, but not this place. VERY clean(!), comfortable beds, helpful staff on the phone, and has obviously been renovated & kept up. Like walking into a "new" hotel must have been back in the day. We liked that there's a full bathroom, plus an extra sink/mirror too, all around the corner from the beds so the lights didn't shine right on the bed. And did I mention that we found it to be very clean? Way better than the several places we've stayed in Albuquerque and Moriarty on our trips from

Clean, quiet, no frills motel run by the sweetest couple in all New Mexico. Our family of four have stayed here a number of times on road trips, and it's always an enjoyable stay. The beds are comfortable, the bathroom is clean, and that's mostly what we hope for in any motel stay. We will most certainly be back.

What a fun experience!! My son and I stayed here on the way to a baseball tourney. I booked it based on all of the awesome reviews, and they were not wrong!! I was looking for a motel off of Route 66 and this was perfect...The room was charming, vintage and so clean! The owner met us at check-in and suggested a dinner option, gave us our keys and a bag of yummy muffins. When we walked into the room it was like walking back in time! So fun! Definitely stop here if you're traveling through!

This is by far one of the cleanest rooms I've ever stayed in! It's got dated charm and you can see the pride the owner takes in the property. Very pet friendly also. I highly recommend it! To top it off we were met by the owner when we arrived with our keys and a bag of locally baked muffins, delicious.

Fun old, yet well restored and safe, Route 66 motel. We were met quickly by the very friendly owner, who gave us the keys and told us to go to our rooms to get out of the heat while he did our paperwork.

Rooms were restored, 1950's style, and fun. For some reason, our two rooms were not adjoining, despite having a reservation a month in advance.

I took lots of photos, and imagined driving my 1963 Falcon down Route 66 to stay there at some point in the future.

Breakfast was nothing but some muffins, and a promise for some green chili omelets which never happened -- disappointing.

This is the first place I've ever stayed that was incredibly clean enough for me to take a bath. It was built in the 50s and it's like a time machine - in a good way.
Turn off the beaten path and stay in this little gem... the neon sign out front is a complete throw back!!! The beds are comfortable, the TV is upgraded, the staff is kind. But most of all, I feel safe! We left our shoes out to dry and no one touched them.
Dogs are welcome, only $10 for them to stay. Plus, you get homemade muffins!
This place is awesome and I highly recommend!!

A quaint, clean, and quiet place to break up a long drive! The owner met us at our car to give us the key and talk about the singing frogs that should come out just after the rain. We didn’t hear them, thanks to the block construction and the prior 8 hour drive!
Very spacious rooms that don’t take the mid-century vibe too far. Great price too!

What a wonderful gem! Super clean rooms, great price, good WiFi, taking Covid precautions very seriously. No morning breakfast so the owner gave me local muffins when I checked in at night. I felt safe and had a lovely evening.

Incredible spot to stop on the way to Phoenix. The motel was literally the simply cleanest motel I have ever stayed in. The owner was super nice and explained the history. A few days prior I stayed at a dive that was a fraction of the age of this place. There was no excuse that this place was better other than the owner cares. I love the retro look and I was extremely comfortable.

This place is is a gem!!! Old school drive up to your door motel right on Route 66 off 40 just about 30 miles east of Albuquerque. Pet friendly. Our room was CLEAN and i mean CLEAN!! I am very picky. I looked everywhere, in every crack and it was spotless! Beds were great, pillows were great, towels were great! I looked at the tile in the shower and all the grout and the corners, spotless! I usually take in clorox wipes to wipe everything down in places i stay. I honestly didnt even feel the need to. It felt so good to stay in a place you could take a nice shower and relax wIthout feeling dirty

We stopped here after a very long day! Super lovely staff. A little disappointed after a long day we were given a room with 2 double beds. The staff did not tell me that was what I was getting. 31 years of marriage and haven't had to sleep in 2 separate beds before. Oh well, we survived. Also the room while very clean and attractive really smelled of smoke. Mattresses were very soft. Also coffee in the lobby provided at 7 am which is pretty late for people traveling. Did appreciate the cute and thoughtful touches. Would stay again but only if there was a queen sized bed.

Adorable, squeaky clean retro motel with almost everything you need and nothing you don't. (An outlet in the bathroom would be good, although there's one just outside on the wall.) It's on the list if we're ever back this way, for sure!

Pro tip: don't rub the cat's tummy, no matter how sweetly she asks!

I will definitely come her again if passing through. This is the nicest "roadside" motel I have ever been to. They were very nice, very accommodating, the room was very clean and tidy. They have a great little patio section with chairs, plants and a bbq for people who want to spend time out of the room and for smokers like myself. All of the bedding is white and you can see that is very clean. The rooms have coffee pots with complimentary coffee and tea. They give you an actual welcome letter with motel information and restaurant referrals for the local area. They serve complimentary

Was pleasantly surprised by this little gem of a motel. Mary at the front desk was very friendly. The rooms were so clean - husband commented that the bathrooms were the cleanest he's ever seen in a hotel/motel. It was quiet, beds were comfortable and room was very spacious - we had a two room setup with 4 beds. Highly recommend staying here over driving to Albuquerque or Gallup. Fun fact: Jeff Bridges filmed a scene from Hell or High Water here!

I made a reservation from the road based on Yelp reviews and once again the faithful reviewers did not disappoint.
The Sunset Motel is a clean, well kept, convenient, friendly, pet welcoming, affordable and comfortable.
Just down the road you will find several restuarants or you can get a pizza delivered to the motel room.
We will definetly stay here again.

Was driving across country on i40 and was trying to make it to Kirkland AFB to stay the night. We were getting tired of being in the car and so were the pups! Started looking on Expedia, yelp, and google reviews for an inexpensive stop for the night. Saw this place and read the reviews. I was skeptical that a outdoor motel with only 19 rooms identical to bates motel could offer so much! Trust the 5 star reviews. This hidden gem is awesome! Very retro style rooms, very clean and comfortable! If I ever pass back through I will stay again. Pet friendly and nice little breakfast! Free wifi. Only complaint

Loved this hotel. We stayed here on our way from Ohio to Arizona based on the reviews we had read online. We were not disappointed. Super clean, quiet, conveniently located, and comfortable. The lady at the check in desk gave us delivery recommendations, and had I not been sick I would have enjoyed the pizza she recommended. Affordable, large room, decent little breakfast, and pet friendly. Not only did the humans enjoy their stay but the dogs did too. Highly recommend this hotel.
