During the first part of your exam Dr. Wiedrich will analyze a medical history with you, including your eye health and vision concerns. We will then use specialized equipment to test the health of the eye. This includes checking the lens, iris, cornea, sclera. To check the retina you may need to be dilated with medicated drops.
At 3 years your child should have their next eye exam. This will include much of the six month exam steps but add in looking at hand-eye coordination and any vision needs such as nearsightedness or farsightedness. At the start of school is when your child will need their next eye exam. This is the exam not only evaluated a child's eye health, it will also include a vision refraction using letters or shapes from an eye chart.
