In 1995 we discovered Taos and fell in love. Soon after, we quit our jobs as high school science teachers and moved to Taos. In 2001 we bought Mudd N Flood Mountain Shop. Now we enjoy the position of being both student and teacher: learning and keeping abreast of the latest developments in outdoor gear and clothing, and sharing this knowledge with our customers.

I’ve been a fan and a customer since 1996 when the original owners were in their first location. I remember when Alana & Chris bought it, when they moved to the present location and I remember how well they cared for the shop and their customers - regulars and those passing through. Today I went in to replace a knife that was lost a week ago. I had the good fortune to replace it with the same brand and model that I had. And, had the good fortune to have an extended chat with Chris. While we chatted I also had the chance to look over the merchandise and found it as impressive as always.

My boyfriend and I were exploring all of the shops in Taos and we came across this place. We went in and found a lot of great quality products. The owner Chris was very helpful and kind to us. We told him we were road tripping and where we were going next and he gave us a place to stop at on the way. He was a really nice guy and we had a great conversation with him! I would definitely recommend stopping here if your exploring Taos!

I am writing because for the first time I washed one of my fanny packs that I bought at least 25 years ago and it looks like new!!! Your products are by far the best that I have ever seen and I give them a real workout. Tough, great looking and very functional. I wouldn't buy from anyone else and I am so glad you are still in business after all this time. Thank You!

Great service and amazing selection of equipment. Wouldn't want to go anywhere else. My partner and I are new-comers to hiking and all out door adventure and the owners were so helpful and informative about different hikes and fun places to start off. Will come back again and again. A store I can trust.

It's hard to find a good outfitter shop and doubly hard to find one when you onsite. Mudd-N-Flood has served us for 12 years at least as our go to shop when we are in the area and need a piece of gear replaced or added to our kit.
it's a small shop that's packed with stuff and they tend to let you look around and then ask if you need help with anything, I like that! I hate going into a shop and having a sales person act lice a second shadow and make comments about everything I look at or pick up. I just leave and don't spend any money when they do.
Advice, they have it if

Great gear and clothing, but do not honor their commitments. We have lived in Taos for 4 years and shopped extensively at this store. The first summer we were here, we were encouraged to get "in the system" as once you were in, they would keep track of what you spent. Once you spent $500 you would get a credit of $25. We have spent several thousands of dollars at this shop over the past few years and never received any kind of a discount or bonus. One other time I asked an employee if a skirt was on sale (it was the end of the season and I had found it online for 50% off; they still had it full

I stopped by to pick up a sleeping bag pad. I was in the back room where the pads where located for over 10 minutes, patiently waiting for someone who worked there to hopefully answer a few questions. When no employees were in sight, I searched the store & finally found a man chatting behind the counter. He quickly got up from his chair when I asked if anyone was working here. He was friendly & answered my questions & offered a discount on one of the pads. I was still undecided so I stated I would return in a few hours. When I returned, his wife was working. She immediately stated that
