The Navajo Division of Transportation (NDOT) is a division under the Executive Branch of the Navajo Nation government. NDOT's mission is to develop and maintain roads, bridges, and airports on the Navajo Nation. NDOT is composed of the Executive office and five departments: Planning, Project Management, Roads Maintenance, Highway Safety, and Airports Management.

Services
Garret Silversmith, as the Executive Director of the Navajo Nation Division of Transportation, will continue building on the success that he and many others have worked hard for in the last several years. He has served in this capacity since 2016 and offers extensive knowledge in the Nation's transportation priorities, goals, and plans.
Provide presentations on all traffic safety related topics as part of our awareness initiatives. Provide Navajo Nation Employees with the mandated National Defensive Driving Course along with the Navajo Nation Vehicle Operator's Permit to ensure that individual employees are properly licensed and educated on safety measures while utilizing Navajo Nation Fleet, as mandated by the Departments Plan of Operation.
To server the Navajo Nation by providing a safe transportation infrastructure through innovation and partnerships. The Navajo DOT Transportation Planning Section is funded through a P.L. 93-638 contract with the BIA Navajo Region Division of Transportation. Under federal law, the Indian Reservation Roads Program (IRRP) allows 2% of its road construction funds to be used for tribal transportation planning.
To provide professional and technical services to the Navajo Nation communities by attending chapter, regional, and council meetings to address transportation needs in project development for road maintenance, road improvement activities, and proposed transportation infrastructure while adhering to cultural and environmental resource(s) laws and regulations.
The Mission of the Department of Roads is to provide a safe, efficient transportation system that supports economic opportunity and livable communities, throughout the Navajo Nation. The Department of Roads embraces safety at work, with values and principles of teamwork through integrity, respect, and quality assurance.
